Active
Rain OUTSIDE Blogs- Answers To Your Widgets, Buttons and Stat
Counters Questions
My email box is filled
with questions about how do you add your submit button to
your outside blog, your stat counter and other tools for tracking on
your Active Rain outside blogs. So this is fast becoming
the Question of The Week!
At this time you are not
able to do any of these things with your Active Rain outside blog.
All of these things like stat counters and subscribe to my blog buttons
are all considered widgets and at this time we can not add widgets to
our outside Active Rain blogs.
Right
now there are still more important things to focus on like
working out the bugs in the RSS feeds and the exposed email addresses.
Once these things are worked out they will be working on things like
wider and more templates, pictures staying the same size and adding the
capabilities to add widgets.
So of course the best way
to cope is to remain patient and express our gratitude
that Bob, Jonathan, Brad and Rich along with the tech people at Active
Rain are working hard to keep Active Rain the best Real Estate on line
community.

Looks like my question all this week has become a blog post. I'll be happy when I can see if I get traffic on my new blog.
Just wondering...I notice that you now repeat your title in the begining of your post . Will this help with SEO? Should I go back and tweak posts I want to show up better?I am going to work with my HTML on NVU this weekend. I was always in too much hurry to get it figured out to use it in my blog. Thanks for all your help!
I've still gotta set one up - the good news is been swamped with business so it's on the back burner - may call you if I get stumped - the queen of answers :) Have a happy 4th with your family!
Lizette-Yes, I do that for SEO purposes. The exact same keywords that you use in your title as keywords must also appear exactly the same in the first 50 words of the content. You also need to use them about two more times within a post. I don't do that with my Active rain community support posts but for Localism I do my best to follow as many of the SEO rules as I can. Look for my 4th of July Post tomorrow morning!
Richard- The RSS feed is a problem they are working to resolve on their end for their feeders. You will not have the ability to use your own feeder until they work out these other bugs, it is on their list.
Lisa- Thank you for stopping by. I have my 4th of July post drafted and ready to publish tomorrow. Make it a wonderful celebration!
Cyndee- I put mine up but I have not gotten my own domain or even uploaded our photo yet! Like you, we are swamped with business, all good! I have 6 listings I am trying to get in the MLS! And more on the way.
One of the reason I don't jump right in I wait fro the more fearless and adventurous of the group to find and suggest correction to the issues thanks for the info I'm about ready to jump in.
Thanks for the plug Katerina! Also, I agree...the best thing to do is just remain patient & wait...This is a really great step forward and there will be many more steps to come in the near future I am sure!
Katerina - My goal for next week is to get my outside blog onto my own proprietary domain, so that I can start reaping the SEO benefit more fully. Have a happy Fourth!
I havent had a chance to even set up my outside blog and get it up and running. I didn't even know there was a problem. I will join the group though so I can keep up with the new additions.
I'm a late adapter to the outside blogs. Just like with software, it's sometimes better to wait for version 2.0 with less glitches and bugs. In the meantime I'll work on some content for the new Localism.
Fran- Yep, that was nice of Jeremy! Thanks Jeremy!
Teri- Yes, I am very busy!
John- I have not done my outside blog either, waiting til the bugs get worked out and for me to send out these listing agreements I have sitting here, that comes first!
Kimberly- Join Jeremy's group and then keep up with what is up with the outside blogs and you will be ready!
I just tried the RSS feed from the outside blog again this afternoon and it now seems to be working fine. Either I was doing something wrong yesterday, or it is fixed today.
Yea!
UPDATE: The RSS feeds are not fully operational. The main title feed seems to open, but the individual posts do not link. At least what I am doing does not work.
Jeff- Widgets do not work at this time on AR outside blogs. They are first working on more important issues. Don't even try to add them, they won't work right now.
Richard- They are working on this issue. Hopefully it will work soon, bugs need to get worked on.
