Motivational Monday…Be a Leader

As we celebrate Presidents Day, I started thinking about leadership and what makes a good leader.

We’re all leaders at some point in our lives and in different scenarios. Parents, for example, take a leadership role with their children.

Teachers, office managers, Real Estate team leaders, business owners, etc. all need good leadership skills.

Our youth sports programs are instrumental in building leadership qualities. Our sports managers and coaches need the ability to draw out the best performance from their athletes even when the score is not in their favor.

If I had to choose one of the most important traits of a successful leader it would be that they are happy with who they are and where they are in life.

There are so many other characteristics that make up a good leader but if your ego needs stroking…if the need for the limelight exceeds the desire to shine the light on those on your team…your ability to be a good leader is limited.

What do you think it takes to be a good leader???

Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others. Jack Welch

Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence, and making sure that impact lasts in your absence. Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook

Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish. Sam Walton
