CONSUMER ALERT:
Chicago, IL - If you have had a loan with Countrywide Financial Corp., the Illinois Attorney General's office is asking that you review your loan.
This past week, Lisa Madigan, the Illinois Attorney General, filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Countrywide Financial Corp., claiming "the company used deceptive practices to lure borrowers into unaffordable loans."
The Complaint states that "in Cook County alone, 2,534 home loans originated by Countrywide have been foreclosed on from January 2004 to his month."
While the Attorney General's office said "consumers with a 30 year fixed mortgage should not be alarmed, but carefully reviewing of all documents of the loan is recommended.", I ask that you review your original interest rate to see if it was increased on the 30 year loan terms. "Make sure you actually have that fixed mortgage," spokesman Natalie Bauer said.
If you had a loan with Countrywide Financial Corp and have been foreclosed upon or are in default and Countrywide was your original lender, act now and reach out to us and we'll get you in touch with the proper authorities to take action.
If you are behind in your mortgage payments or will soon be defaulting on your loan and thinking about doing a short sale, please reach out to http://www.shortsalestopper.com
If you have been on an ARM program, a stated income program, 100% financing program, the negative ARM program, whereby your interest rate started around 1.5%, take note. Stop what you are doing and pull out your loan closing documents and review them carefully. We have former Countrywide Loan Officers who know what to look for and we'll get you on the list with the State of Illinois to help you and take action.
Even if your loan isn't with Countrywide, pull out those documents now and we ask that you review them. If you don't understand them, again, we have professionals who can review them for you in the strictest of confidence and if something is wrong, we'll get you the help to protect you.
I applaud Lisa Madigan and her staff for taking such action and measures to protect the people of the State of Illinois.
