If you're in the market for a new home in the First State, Greenville, DE might be the perfect place for you. Located in northernmost New Castle County just outside of Wilmington, Greenville is a small, affluent community with a rich history and tons of charm.

One of the main draws of Greenville is its location. Situated just 30 minutes from Philadelphia, 1 ½ hours from New York City and 2 hours from Washington, DC, Greenville offers residents easy access to these major metropolitan areas while still maintaining a quiet, suburban feel. In addition, Greenville is just a short drive from popular Delaware beach destinations, including Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Lewes. Also nearby are several New Jersey beach destinations like Cape May, Ocean City and Avalon.

But Greenville has plenty to offer on its own. The community is home to some of the most beautiful and historic properties in the area, including sprawling estates and elegant colonial homes. The area is known for its stunning architecture and well-preserved historic homes, which date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. One of the most notable historic properties in Greenville is the Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library. This stunning estate was once the home of Henry Francis du Pont, a prominent collector of American decorative arts. Today, the Winterthur estate is open to the public and features an extensive collection of furniture, ceramics, glassware, and textiles from the 17th to the 19th centuries, as well as beautiful gardens and scenic walking trails.

Another iconic historic property in Greenville is the Hagley Museum and Library. This sprawling estate was once the site of the first du Pont family home in America and is now home to a museum that showcases the history of the du Pont family and their contributions to American industry. Visitors can explore the estate's historic buildings, including a restored 19th-century blacksmith shop and machine shop, as well as enjoy scenic views of the Brandywine River.

In addition to these larger historic properties, Greenville is home to many stunning historic homes and estates that have been lovingly restored and preserved. These homes showcase a variety of architectural styles, from classic colonial and Federal-style homes to Victorian and Queen Anne-style mansions. Many of these homes feature original details, such as hand-carved woodwork, intricate plasterwork, and beautiful stained glass windows. While many of the homes in Greenville are historic, there are also plenty of modern, newly-built homes to choose from. Whether you're looking for a classic colonial or a sleek, contemporary design, you're sure to find something that fits your style and budget in Greenville.

Overall, Greenville is a great place to live or invest in real estate. With its prime location, access to American history and culture, and stunning homes, it's easy to see why this community is so highly sought-after. It’s just west of the city of Wilmington, but it feels like you are in the country. Beautiful scenery; lots of rolling hills and open country, which is amazing given the proximity to the corporate capital of America.
