Independance Day!
BBQ's, Music, Picnics, Pool Parties and who can forget the Fireworks. Growing up in Colorado, the 4th of July was a little different than here with my kids in Arizona. Of course there were big displays all over town, but all fireworks are illegal here, at least in Colorado we could get fountains, butterflys and sparklers. Yes, even SPARKLERS are illegal in Arizona!! It has taken a little getting used to, but we have found several GREAT family events for the celebration.
East Valley
Apache Junction
We have not attended the festivities, but have ssen the fireworks display. It is great! Better yet, the event and parking are free! Lots of things for the family and kids to do.
Chandler
This is a fun event that I have attended! One of the unique experiences of this festival is the bike parade where contestants decorate thier bikes like a float in 4th of July red, white and blue. The best decorated bike wins a HARO childrens bike! It is a lot of fun.

Good music, good food, great fun! There is something for everyone at Gilbert's 4th celebration. They also have cool photos for me to make these links to info more appealing!
West Valley
Avondale TODAY!! July 3rd
This is a fun event for all ages and for race enthusiasts as there are Tours of the track at Phoenix International Raceway where NASCAR events are held!
Glendale
At this event you get to enjoy a fly over by an F-16 Fighter Squadron from Luke Air Force Base! What a site!!! A great reminder to thank those that allow us to celebrate our Independance and Freedom. The kids are certain to love the events in Glendale as much as us adults. Glendale was home to this past Superbowl. They definately know how to put on a great event.
Central Phoenix
Phoenix 4th
This is one of the bigger celebrations in the Phoenix metro area. They have everything including an F-16 flyover! They put on a great display and there are tons of vendors.
Tempe 4th
This is a huge event and spectacular fireworks show! It is not free, but there is great food and lots to do. I would suggest getting there a little early for a good seat as once the sun starts to settle in gets busy. I went two years ago and my 2 and 4 year old did ok with it. It was a little hot, but it is Arizona, and the lines were a little long for vendors and restrooms. Overall though we all enjoyed ourselves. If I had it to do again with children that young I probably would not, but that is just my opinion for kids that age.
Northeast Valley
Scottsdale
If fireworks are NOT your thing, this is the event. Great Food and in the famous Arizona City of Scottsdale.
Northwest Valley
Surprise
There are both pay and free actvities at the celebration in Surprise.
There are numerous other Arizona 4th of July events that you can find more info on. I amsure that there are simular events in your hometown as well. After all this is the United States and this is OUR celebration!
This year I think is the year for us to stay near home, hit the pool at a great friends house, and watch the display at Schnepf Farms. They put on a great event and show right here in Queen Creek. I do have to say that I do hope to track down some sparklers for the kids! Sorry, but that is something that every child deserves to experience...shhhh...don't tell :)
Be safe and have a great Independance Day!
