So... You're a Brand New Agent AND You Want To Have Fun?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greenville Upstate

As a first-year real estate agent, you're about to embark on a wild ride of ups and downs, twists and turns, and more paperwork than you ever thought possible. But fear not, my dear newbie, for I am your friendly coach, and I'm here to guide you through the ten best things you can do to make your first year in real estate both successful and hilarious.

1. Wear a "Newbie" Hat

Nothing screams "I'm new!" quite like a bright red hat with the word "Newbie" emblazoned on it. Wear it proudly to your first few showings and open houses, and watch as people's reactions range from amused to confused. Bonus points if you bedazzle it.

2. Take an Improv Class

Real estate is all about thinking on your feet, so why not get some practice in with an improv class? You'll learn how to listen, respond, and think creatively, all skills that will come in handy when you're trying to close a deal.

3. Create a Dance Routine for Every House You Show

Want to really stand out from the other real estate agents in your area? Create a unique dance routine for every house you show! Whether it's the Cha-Cha Slide or the Macarena, you're sure to leave a lasting impression on potential buyers.

4. Host a "Wine and Sign" Event

Who says signing paperwork has to be boring? Host a "Wine and Sign" event where clients can sip on their favorite wine while signing all the necessary paperwork. Just make sure they're not too tipsy to sign on the dotted line!

5. Make a Rap Video About Your Listings

If dance routines aren't your thing, why not try your hand at rapping? Create a rap video about your listings and post it on social media. You'll either go viral or become a laughingstock, but either way, you'll get noticed.

6. Play "Real Estate Bingo" at Open Houses

Make your open houses more fun by creating a "Real Estate Bingo" game. Create bingo cards with phrases like "granite countertops," "hardwood floors," and "open concept" and have potential buyers mark off each phrase as they hear it. The first person to get a bingo wins a prize!

7. Dress Up as a Famous Real Estate Agent for Halloween

Halloween is the perfect time to show off your real estate knowledge. Dress up as a famous real estate agent like Million Dollar Listing's Ryan Serhant or Selling Sunset's Christine Quinn. Bonus points if you can pull off their signature catchphrases!

8. Start a Real Estate TikTok Account

If you're not on TikTok yet, what are you waiting for? Create a real estate-focused account and start making videos about the industry. You might not get famous overnight, but you'll definitely have some fun along the way.

9. Put Your Face on a Billboard

Nothing says "I'm a real estate agent" quite like putting your face on a billboard. Sure, it might be expensive, but think of all the potential clients who will see your smiling face as they drive by. Just make sure to get a good headshot!

10. Always Carry Business Cards...and a Bottle of Hot Sauce

Finally, as a first-year real estate agent, you never know when you'll meet your next client. That's why it's important to always carry business cards with you. And since you're a hilarious agent, why not also carry a bottle of hot sauce? You never know when you'll need to spice things up.

So there you have it, dear newbie. Ten hilarious things you can do to make your first year in real estate a success. Just remember to have fun, be yourself, and never take yourself TOO seriously! What would you add to the list to have a little fun? :)
