A passion of mine is design! I enjoy helping clients stage their current homes or, we may completely start from scratch with a new and fresh design. I spend time finding out what colors make them happy and what their lifestyle is like. From there, we begin determining a style that will bring joy and beauty into their homes.
Another aspect of my design work includes finding beautiful furnishings, fixtures, and accents that won't break the bank. There are many ways to create a beautiful space without absolutely destroying the bank account. I will scour my resources high and low to find the best deals. (That's the really fun part!)
In this post, however, I am going to share a favorite design style I have perfected that I call, Country French with a Texas Twist. Country French has always had my heart but as a true, native Texas gal, placing an unexpected Texas accent provides a unique flair that clients love. You achieve a beautiful yet, relaxed decor.
Here are some tips for Paula's Country French with a Texas Twist look:
NO MATCHY-MATCH - Don't buy "sets" of furniture. You will want to mix some vintage pieces with furniture that can stand alone, or blend into an overall palate. Take a risk and place an unexpected item such as a unique side table that will bring an added texture to the mix.
KEEP IT CLEAN - What I mean by this is, don't overdo your decor. We can often get excited about something we love and discover that we have way too many of that same type of item. Collections are fun but often overwhelm a room. If you must collect, break up the collections a bit and place smaller groups throughout the home.
BLEND TEXTURES - For a true Country French/Texas look, you will want to use leathers, hides, soft color palate fabrics, wood, antlers, and other unique pieces. When your home blends various textures, you then begin to create a unique look that is gorgeous without being pretentious. And, this requires having a clear plan and vision for the space.
If you are ready to create a look like this, give me a call. We will have a lot of fun creating the perfect look for your home. And, it might require a few unexpected antique trips! :)
