I am thinking about purchasing a Flip pocket Camcorder and looking for information on those who have bought one.

Is it as easy to use as the advertisements state?

How is the Video quality?

Is the software user friendly?

Have you Videoed a listing and posted it to your web site?

Which model would you recommend, Flip Video, Flip Ultra, or Flip Mino?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Michael, there are a ton of posts here on the rain about the Flip video. It is the best and the easiest! We use it for everything, testimonials, family, listings, everything!

Michael, I just got in from Circuit City with my new Flip Mino! I am not a "techie" but this thing is so simple it is scary! We just did a few sample videos and the quality of both the audio and video are great! Paid $179 and so far it is worth every penny! I am really looking forward to using it daily! Have a great weekend!

Here is a blog post that I read before deciding to buy !

The Flip is perfect if you want the video equivalent of cell phone photos on your listings.

I don't know about you, but my customers deserve just a bit more professionalism from me, considering the commission they are paying.

You can take MLS pictures with your cell phone camera.  You can take video with the Flip.

It doesn't mean you should.

I don't know why people are 'flipping' over this camera....!

Almost everyone out there has video capability in their CURRENT still camera!  Just get a bigger card to capture more video, and the quality of that video will be as good (and I think for most, MUCH better) than the Flip camera! Just use the video settings!  I have a video setting in my 5 year old Canon point and shoot!

Yes, you have to hook up a cable from your camera to your computer, instead of just plugging it in to the USB port, but other than that, this camera offers nothing additional that you don't already have!

In regards to whether you should use such a thing to post video tours, etc. to your listings, I agree with Tom.  It's the video equivalent of a bad cell phone picture.  I think you'll find it more of an embarrassment than anything.

For testimonials, private tours for an out of state client who wants to view a house, video blogging... it's perfect.  But again, it offers nothing more than most people already have in their current cameras!

Tom and Fred- We work in two niches, one of those niches is our luxury home market. Our sellers love the quality of the flip videos we take, of course and SOLD is all that counts, we sell our high end homes.  I use the Active Rain Video platform to edit, add music and voice overs, text and clickable links over images. I think it is more in how you present it and what you are using to edit and publish. In you tube they look crappy, in the AR video platform they look great. Our high end clients are very happy with what we are doing. They especially like how we can video at discretion, for security reasons, of course. I have a great Sony Handycam digital dvd camera video and still with a wide angle lens. I use that for all our still shots which come out great. I am looking forward to my Nikkon with wide angle lenses. But for video I can not stand my expensive Sony. With the Flip I can just plug it in to my computer and go. It runs on batteries which I love the most so I don't have to ever worry about it running out of power, because I carry extra batteries with me.
