5 Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. It is a great time to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather with the longer days. It is the perfect time to begin spring cleaning. Here are 5 spring cleaning tips to get you started:

  1. Make a schedule. Take a good look around your home and ask yourself, “What areas need the most work? What areas are usually skipped during routine cleaning?” Those are the best places to start. Regardless of where you begin, having a plan for tackling each room will keep you focused on the task at hand. 
  2. Declutter. Studies have shown that a disorganized home can add to stress levels, and seeing clutter sends signals to your brain that work isn’t done. So, start off your spring cleaning by reducing clutter to make you are more efficient and organized.
  3. Clean from top to bottom. When you start to clean your home, it’s important to start from the ceiling down. This will force debris downward and keep you from having to re-dust or re-clean your space. If you have a vacuum with an extension hose, use it to get cobwebs and dust from your ceilings and fans first.
  4. Protect your skin. Use rubber gloves while you’re cleaning to avoid dry skin – even when using just water or natural cleaners.
  5. Think green while you clean. You want to start spring off on a clean slate, so don’t expose yourself to unnecessary chemicals and toxins. This year try cleaning with a steam cleaner, which is one of the best green products for spring cleaning. If you don’t have a steam cleaner, try using white distilled vinegar, baking soda, and water.

Great tips, thanks for sharing. Our home is definitely due for a Spring Cleaning. A disorganized and cluttered space certainly makes me feel there is more work to do.
