The other day I was running errands, and about 20 cars ahead of me, a person was walking their dog across the street. (this is a BUSY street with 6 lanes) Where he was crossing, there is a light, but did not press the button, and was walking with traffic coming from both sides.
Before he could get entirely across the West bound lanes, he all of a sudden fell on the street. He did not try to break his fall with his arms, so was pretty sure it was a medical emergency. All 3 lanes came to a stop, to ensure the safety of this walker. Several men jumped out of their cars to help him up, but he started convulsing as I could see his feet flopping on the road. Then someone started CPR, which is never a good sign. I called 911, and gave as much info as I could from my car.
It took about 5 minutes, and there were a couple people taking turns doing CPR on this person, and a police officer and a fire truck (labeled with Paramedic) arrived on the scene. I then took off, as there was nothing else I could do.
I thought about this the rest of the day, and prayed this person got to the hospital and was ok. Thursday morning I called the non-emergency line for Aurora police to see if this person survived, but dispatch said they were not able to tell me anything, but an officer would call me. He did, said the man was transported to the hospital, so that was a good sign, but that was all they knew. After they get to the hospital, they are not "in the loop" anymore.
I still pray this person is ok, and hoping his pup is good too. Don't know what happened to the dog.
