Media, PA is a charming borough located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, just 12 miles west of Philadelphia. Known for its historic architecture, vibrant downtown area, and excellent schools, Media offers a high quality of life for its residents. Here are just a few reasons why it's great to live in Media, PA:

Small-Town Charm

Despite being located so close to a major city, Media has managed to maintain its small-town feel. Its charming main street, State Street, is lined with independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, and is the heart of the town. The community is tight-knit, and residents often come together for events such as the annual Media Food & Crafts Festival, the State Street Blues Stroll, and the Media 5 Mile Race. These events bring together residents from all walks of life, creating a strong sense of belonging. Affectionately referred to by residents as “Everybody’s Hometown” this is much more than a slogan. From all walks of life and various religions, races, and ethnic backgrounds, Media is inclusively open for everyone to call home.

Convenient Location

Media is located just a short drive or train ride away from Philadelphia, which offers a wealth of cultural and entertainment options. However, Media itself has plenty to offer as well, with its own theater, library, and community center. Centrally located in the county, Media serves as the county seat for Delaware County and home of the Delco Bar Association. Plus, with easy access to major highways such as I-95 and I-476, it's easy to explore other parts of the region, like New York City to the north and Wilmington, DE, Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC to the south. Media also offers easy access to public transportation, with SEPTA bus lines, trolley service, and regional rail service providing multiple ways to get to surrounding towns and to Philadelphia.

Natural Beauty

Media is surrounded by beautiful parks and nature preserves, such as Ridley Creek State Park, Tyler Arboretum, Glen Providence Park, and Rose Tree Park. These areas offer a large variety of opportunities for residents to hike, fish, picnic, and much more.

Walkability

Media's downtown area is very walkable, with many shops, restaurants, and other amenities located within easy walking distance. This makes it a great place to live for those who enjoy getting out and exploring their community on foot. Walkscore.com rates Media as a 96 on a scale of 100, making this a “walker’s paradise”.

Food Scene

Media’s downtown area features a plethora of restaurants and bars. Each summer, the Media Business Authority hosts Dining Under the Stars, a popular outdoor dining event. During the event, State Street in Media is closed off to traffic, and restaurants set up tables and chairs along the street, creating a pedestrian-only dining experience. The street is lined with twinkling lights and there is often live music, making for a festive atmosphere. Diners can choose from a variety of cuisine options, ranging from Italian to Asian fusion to classic American fare. Some restaurants also offer special menus or deals during Dining Under the Stars. The event has become a beloved tradition in Media and draws visitors from all over the region. It's a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer evening while supporting local businesses and soaking up the town's charming atmosphere.

Rich History

Media has a long and interesting history, with many of its buildings dating back to the 1800s. The Delaware County Historical Society and the Media Historic Archives both offer resources for those interested in learning more about the town's past. Additionally, Media is home to the oldest operating courthouse in the United States, which is now a museum.

We are fortunate to live in an area that has several towns like this...old world charm, access to tons of amenities, and high walkability scores. No wonder so many people love to make their homes here.
