For those of you that visited Tyler once many, many, moons again, I just thought I would let you know things have changed.  I have lived here for about 12 years, and let me tell you we have some growth going on here! I learned yesterday of a new hotel going in by the toll road. I think this makes about 6 new hotels this year. Yes, this year. Before the new multistory hotel, we were up to a 20% increase in hotel rooms. Why so many hotels? I asked a friend who works at one, and he explained that his hotel is full most of the time. Huh? Full most of the time? How?

He went on to explain that we have a lot of sports teams in Tyler, and they have a lot of games against out of town folks who need a place to stay.  Thus, the huge increase in rooms right? Well...

Then we have the Rose Festival, The East Texas State Fair, about a gazillion new restaurants, several new movie theaters, a hugeeeeeee new area being built up out in the hwy 64 west area, etc. That 64 west area is going to have several hotels, a new open air mall, and who knows what else. 

We were named one of the top retirement places in the U.S. by AARP too. 

So, if you haven't been here for awhile or feel like a trip to a growing community, or want to move to a great town, check out Tyler, Texas.
