As we fire up the grills today and wait for darkness to descend so we can look to the night sky for all those impressive fireworks, please spare a thought for all of those throughout our history who have made this possible.
Without these brave men and women being prepared to lay down their very lives in the name of freedom, then the United States of America would not exist today and there would be no celebration.
From me to them - a personal thank you. You are indeed my heroes and I thank all for your service and I salute you.

Thank you for the reminder what the day actually stands for. Unforturely we have turned July 4th into a day of beer and explosives.
