I'm thinking you live in Paradise! So many places to see, eat and go to!  I'm afraid we don't have much out this way other then............... fast food......:-(  What are people thinking?  lol

Liz - I'm glad that fast food restaurants are hard to get approved in some of these towns.  I love trying funky little places and patronizing the local businesses. Who needs fast food?

Gary - it's the best wasy to enjoy crab, and seafood in general. Southern California is pretty casual and being able to walk in off the beach to a place like Auggie's is the best way to dine sometimes. And the prices are terrific.

Thanks, Diane. I have done a few but admit I was inspired to do more from your post on writing restaurant reviews for localism. And what a great side benefit...great food. Crab and shrimp are some of my faves, adndthis place will get visited often I think.

I've always been a fan of shellfish, and the lunch special sounds great! Nice choice of the Zydeco music for your RES. Just one question -- if I stop by and tell them 'Jeff sent me' will I get a free appetizer, or end up washing my own dishes? :)

Jeff, You have inspired me to step it up a bit for localism! I was planning on it, but you just raised the bar a little higher. Fantastic review and I loved the video!  Way to go. Loved it. Hey, wouldn't we be able to write off our food bill if we blog about it? lol..

I remember years ago (92-96) in Encinitas there being a wonderful seafood restaurant on PCH across from an old movie theatre that served some awesome seafood dishes.

They would cover the table with butcher wrap before bringing the food to our table.  Once they bought your meal to the table they would dump it on the covered table and have you go at it.  All meals would come with potatoes and corn that was prepared in seafood drippings.

It was a wonderful place to stop for lunch on the way to San Diego or Stop for dinner on the way back going north.  I tried to Google map it but wasn't very successful months ago to see if it was still in business.

The ride from the freeway was also fun as it was a hilly terrain that felt like you were on a roller coaster if you traveled the speed limit or a little faster.

Jeff - that sounds like a great restaurant with great prices.  I love seafood!!

FNP - not sure which place that might be, or even if it is still there. Well check it out when I am in that part of town again.

Sharon - I am a big seafood fan myself, so any place that serves it is on my list. Part of the fun is finding new ones to try.

Lynda - agreed. I tend to steer away from chain restaurants.
