32 Comments on Small Town America Demonstrates All That is Right With Our Country
Other: Small town USA just brings out the best in all of us.
Teri: Glad you got to stay in for the morning but will do the fireworks tonight. Enjoy.
Duane: That's Texas for you, beautiful horses and ladies ; )
Gary, oh was there a lady on that horse? grin
Wow Gray.. I love the pictures...
Gary, I really loved the photos, I enjoy the parades and go into NYC often for many of our wonderful ones. It looks like you had a beautiful day and I'm sure you had a great time. Happy 4th!
Thanks for the beautiful photographs, Gary. It's very sweet of you to publish those so quickly. I love small town America.
My best friend in the whole world just won first place in a parade in Austin, TX. She's a professional clown. When she sends me her photo, I will publish that, too. Happy Fourth of July!
Gary, I hear ya about the early morning thing!
Looks like you guys know how to celebrate in Texas!!! Hope you had a great 4th!
Gary- Happy 4th....and enjoy the fireworks :)
Duane: We're getting you some new glasses!! You do have good taste in horses though.
Donna: Glad you liked a little visit in my world : )
Carole: Our 4th of July day was perfect, although in Texas in the summer you better do things early before the sun rises too high and cooks you. I'm sure in the city you guys have "tremendous" parades. The Macy's Christmas parade I hope to see live some day. That would really be cool.
Elizabeth: The magic of the Internet and digital photos. Just plug the card into the slot in the laptop and you are good to go. Down home people have so much happiness in them. I wanted to try and capture it. The kids have huge smiles running and getting the candy thrown at them from the floats. I really look forward to that prize winning clown post and photo from you.
Pam: Having fun here is never a problem as I am sure it is not in Meridian either with great folks like you.
Kathy: I just got back from the fireworks display I attended and it was awesome again with a country band, crafts and food booths, super fireworks with patriotic songs being played in the background. VERY ENJOYABLE. Hope whaterver you're doing it was good for you.
Gary, I hope that your Independence Day ended as well as it started. Although I've driven through Denton, I've never seen the court house before. It is a beautiful building. I loved the parade pictures that you took! Thanks for sharing them with everyone. They are proof that your title is true. Great 4th of July post!
What wonderful photos Gary! Brings back some wonderful memories of younger days with kids, and small town celebrations. My first child was a bicentennial baby...America had the biggest birthday party that year--- 1976...
Gary, so cute.... I hope you had a great independence day my friend.
Gary, your are so right, small-town parades are so special. I have been in ours for the past three years and never cease to get emotional as I watch our proud veterans, wave to myriad families and people of all shapes, sizes and colors. This is when I am most proud to be an American and most delighted to have moved to North Carolina!
Sondra: It was a good 4th of July. Hope you had a good one in your backyard as well : )
Mara: I remember that bicentennial day. We had a great celebration on that one. Seems like yesterday doesn't it? They grow up so fast too, don't they?
Wow! Does that ever bring back memories of childhood!
Judy: Those parades are fun places to be. The kids are awesome with their enthusiasm and wide eyed wonder. Hope you had a good holiday too my friend.
Diane: You are right about the veterans. We had jeeps and Army trucks with some Korean, Vietnam, Disabled and Gulf War veterans. With all the American flags it was a real tribute to them for their service. North Carolina has such a military presence I can see how you feel that way about the respect paid to veterans.
Kathy: I hadn't been out to a parade in years and I knew several adult friends who were participating in this one and they said to come on out and enjoy. We all need to visit parades more often. They are indeed a place of much fun and relaxation and like you said bringing back childhood memories.
Gary, these wonderful photos show that Denton, TX must pass the fun test - with flying colors!
Hi Gary...What a wonderful time everyone seemed to be having. I'm so glad you got up early and captured the essence of a true Independence Day celebration. The pictures are great.
Cheers,
Kate
Gary~ what a great parade your town puts on. Our parades seem like so small in comparison! It's so great when the adults and kids go all out to decorate, I especially like the photo with the kids in the barrels.
Patricia: Lots of fun for sure on a 4th of July morning.
Kate: I had to give you a sense of the local stuff for a change. I always love seeing all your Lake Anna area.
Lisa: Lots of decorations for such a quick event. Saw some face painting at a booth prior to the fireworks at night. Lots of spirit around here for sure. Lots of fun between adults and kids.
