You ask what are Tubular skylights? Tubular skylights are energy efficients, high performance lighting system that are cylindrical in shape and are designed to bring in natural light into the room. A "light pipe" is installed between a small clear collector dome on the roof allowing sunlight to enter the room. Tubular Skylights scatter all of the light spectrum through the use of a diffuser, elimainating any light spots, The diffuser speads the natural light throughout a room. UV rays are absorbed by the skylight dome, light pipe, and diffusers eliminating the effect of bleching of furniture, carpets, etc. A great way to save on energy that I would put in my enviromentally friendly file.

Jack, light pipes sound like a nice feature.  I like that the diffusers spread the light and keep the sun from bleaching furniture and photos.

These are great ways to bring natural light into a dark space.  I have seen them used very effectively in long hallways and loft areas.
