If you are looking at moving to Hood River there are many neighborhoods to choose from. Here's a list with a brief overview of features, location, etc.

  • Old Downtown - This area in Hood River is basically from Wasco St. to Eugene St. east of 20th. There are many Historic homes in this neighborhood. It is walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants, 2nd st. stairs, HR Saturday Market and more. I have lived in 3 different homes on Colunbia St. I like this neighborhood for the feel of old homes and convenience to town.
  • May St. Elementary - I love this neighborhood. It is probably my favorite neighborhood in Hood River. It is located in the Heights but east of the Hospital. This is also an old neighborhood with many Historic homes. One thing I especially like is that it is further away from the I84 freeway noise. The streets are quieter with less traffic than on Cascade or Columbia Streets.
  • The Heights - This neighborhood is located above May St. and west of 13th to Belmont Ave. In the past this was not a highly desirable area in Hood River. Things have been improving over the years and many homes have been fixed up and remodeled. It is a convenient neighborhood to The Heights shopping district.
  • The Bungalows at Fox Hollow - This neighborhood is located about 1/2 mile west of the swimming pool off of May St. Most of the homes are 5-6 yrs old and are larger sized homes with custom features and rock work. The homes in this subdevelopment must fit the criteria which focuses on rear access garages off the back alleys and bungalow style homes.  There are still a few undeveloped lots in this neighborhood.
  •  Frankton Park - Frankton Park was developed about 12 years ago. It is located on the west side of Hood River about 1.5 miles from the Aquatic Center. The homes in the original Frankton Park are on culdesacs with sidewalk trees which are growing well. More land was divided up and built out about 7-8 years ago. Most of the homes in Frankton Park are larger size and start around $429,000.
  • Stonegate & East Stonegate - Stonegate is a beautiful neighborhood also about 1.5 miles west of town. Stonegate is a PUD known for it's trees, native landscaping, common greenspaces and parks, walking trails, native pond & habitat, CCR's and homes built to architectural guidelines. West Stonegate is located off of Post Canyon Rd. East Stonegate is located off of Frankton Rd.

  • Bowe Addition - The Bowe Addition is located off of Belmont St. near the Westside Elementary School. The homes in the Bowe Addition are mostly tract homes about 15-20 years old. The homes in this neighborhood are typically for sale starting around $300,000. depending on size, features, etc.
  • Pacific Heights - This neighborhood started in 2000 by Chris Jones- Sonrise Developments. I sold one of the first 4 homes in this development. Unfortunately Chris and 2 others died a few years later in a small plane crash near Hood River. The neighborhood is located off of Pacific Ave. by Walgreens. The Hawks Ridge Assisted Living Center is nearby, as well as a community park and Horizon Christian School.
  • Elliot Park - This neighborhood is just North of Pacific Heights off of Pacific. The homes in this neighborhood are larger than in Pacific Heights. Some of the homes back up to green spaces and have Mountain views.
  • Willow Ponds - Willow Ponds is a newer subdevelopment located on 20 acres just west of town. The homes in Willow Ponds are totally custom designed and built for each lot. Tnere are strict guidelines as to size of house on lot, color, siding, etc. The homes here are very nice and totally top of the line.

  • Mountain View Ranch - Mountain View Ranch is a small estate type development of upper end homes on small acreages. There are strict CCR's on size, placement, landscaping, and more. There are only a small number of homes in this development. Mountain View Ranch is located off of Frankton Rd. between East Forden and Methodist Rd.

The Columbia Gorge is a beautiful area in Oregon and Washington. There are many small towns on both sides of the Columbia River. Hood River is a popular destination close to many outdoor recreation activities. The popular historic downtown has galleries, restaurants, shops, wineries and breweries.  The Dalles is a historic town located at the end of the Oregon Trail. White Salmon is a quaint town on the Washington side where many artists have opened shops. Stevenson, another small town in Washington has become known for it's restaurants, brewery, Skamania Lodge and close proximity to Portland.
