Bertha coming?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams

OK, so tropical storm Bertha is far away in the Atlantic.... Of course, the experts have no idea where it is headed and we can only hope that it stays away from the US.  With oil at $146 a barrel and rising, one can only imagine the effect a hurricane heading through the gulf and disrupting the oil platforms or refineries would have on the price of gas........what do you think?  Another 50 cents a gallon?

Just had this conversation last night over dinner. A major refinery down (weather, fire, etc) would strike a significant blow to our economy.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll go fill up now> LOL!  Seriously, the price of gas is already being controlled by forces you and I do not control.  Veronica

Susan,  don't worry about it when Katrina Hit the Gulf NO platforms were disrupted in any way.. Those things are built to stand a Hurricane.

It is funny you post this. We were just talking about that we would need a hurricane to hit SC to catch up on the rain fall we are missing. I don't wish a hurricane on anyone, but it would be nice to get some rain finally that would do something to our water table! Also it wouldn't be the oil platforms we would need to worry about. It is the pipelines that could be under water and the refinery being destroyed. Thomas is right the plat forms are built to go through a hurricane!

I personally think that if the sun comes up, it can alter the price of oil.  Anything that comes up seems to give someone an excuse to charging more for something, and it all gets passed onto us!  ARGHHH
