Argentina, my second home, let me tell you about one of most beautiful places in the world, sometimes called the Paris of the South. It was founded by Pedro de Mendorz in 1536, and in 1994 was declared autonomous city. Buenos Aires declared the capital of the Republic in 1880, its population amounts to around 3 million inhabitants with another 3 million traveling in to the city everyday to work. Up to mid-XX, la Argentina was a peaceful territory for thousands of European families seeking  shelter, running away from bombing. A short 14 hour flight from Dallas or Miami, it is well worth the trip, There is so much to see and do, music, tango, wines, food and the architecture. Argentina is one of most generous countries of the world, due to its assorted landscapes, its benign climates and, of course, the quality of its people, "if you think that I am boasting, just ask anyone who has visited the land. As an ancient 'quichua' poem says: "You don't love what what you don't know, you don't defend what you don't love". There is no doubt - absolutely- that the best way of loving a country is getting to know it.......

Jack, that is a great photo, do you live in Buenos Aires or another city?  It has been a long time since I was there, but I agree with your beautiful description, the plan is to visit again next fall.  That should give us time to get our passports etc.  Beautiful home and a wonderous beautiful country!

Jack, it sounds as if you may be a little home sick and rightly so.

I have had a love affair with Argentina for a long time. Many Americans just don't realize what she has to offer. For those in this country who view Niagara Falls as beautiful, they should see tropical Iquazu Falls on the northern border with Brazil where the variety of butterflies is like rain falling from heaven. If you like a good bottle of wine then enjoying a drink of Mendoza's finest rivals that of Sonoma Valley. If you think Yellowstone is beautiful then you should experience Bariloche in the lake district of the central Andes where the trout fishing is fantastic, the chocolate rivals that of Switzerland, and the size of the mountains would make the Tetons seem like foothills. And if you think that coastal Alaska is beautiful then a visit to Tierra Del Fuego and the Beagle channel would take your breath away.

Ah Jack ! You make my heart yearn for the open road and the anticipation of a new day. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Return as soon as you can.

Jack,

Gorgeous! I have many good friends from Argentina - although have not yet been there. My forays into LAtin America have been limited so far to Mexico and Central America (all countries but Belize). If you have not yet been to Panama, I highly, highly recommend it!

Are you doing any green building in Argentina?

Jack,I always wanted to see Buenos Aires. It is a beautiful, sophisticated city. I am descendant from an European family and had some relatives (never met) who moved to Argentina after second Word War... I would love one day to have the chance of visiting...
