The kick off to the Annual Milford Oyster Festival!  Visit Downtown Milford August 15, 2008 between 5 and 9 pm. Free pearls will be given out during the preview of this year's Annual Milford Oyster Festival.  Enjoy music, artists, lots of food and many prizes.  Admission is free,  This event will be held rain or shine. 

 

 Friday Night Activities

2:30pm & 4:30pm Schooner Cruises -  take a 90 minute  cruise around Long Island Sound
5:00pm - 9:00pm Fresh Oysters -  AMOF in conjunction with East Coast Shellfish Growers Association brings you oysters from Maine to Virginia
Oyster shucking demonstrations by professional shuckers.
5:00pm - 9:00pm Wine & Oyster Tasting - check back for details
6:30pm Sunset Schooner Cruise -  take a two hour cruise around Long Island Sound
5:00pm - 9:00pm Amusement Rides  
5:00pm - 9:00pm Milford Rotary will have thier Amber Alert ID system for parents to store valuable information on their children in case of an emergency

 

Milford Oyster Festival Shell Decorating Contest Awards

Annual Milford Oyster Festival, Inc. in conjunction with Coquille Catering is sponsoring an oyster shell decorating contest.

Camp judging will conclude in August with the top three winners in each age group from each camp going to the final city wide judging and display at the Oyster Decorating Booth at Milford Landing at the Annual Milford Oyster Festival on Saturday.

 
Final Judging will be provided by The Milford Fine Arts Council.
Prizes will be awarded at 6:45 p.m.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each age group.  Prizes are $100 - $50 - $25 gift certificates, and ice cream coupons too!

Over 600 children at The Milford Recreation Department's Si,,er Playground Program will participate at Meadowside, JFK, Calf Pen, Live Oaks, Mathewson and Orange Avenue Elementary Schools. Camps will be provided with oyster shells and supplies to create their oyster work of art.

 PEARL TRAIL-


To get your Pearl Trail Map, just bring a bag of non-perishable food or a $2 donation for the Milford Food Bank down to the Downtown Milford Business Association (DMBA) information booth located at Lisman Landing.  Follow the Pearl Trail and visit each shop to collect your free genuine cultured pearls.  Once you complete your shopping stroll, you will have enough pearls to complete a necklace or bracelet.
Pearl stringing kits are available for purchase at the DMBA information booth located at Lisman Landing..

I heard from a client that alot of pearls where given out yesterday.  That sounds like alot of fun!
