Listing and Recession

When you accept a listing your building your inventory, the expansion of your sales portfolio, the volume of which may be considered a condition of success.

If your inventory is a small one the possibility for lower commission is there due to a combination of negative circumstances which include less selection for your buyers and fewer properties for your brokerage to compete with in the marketplace.

Having more listings is a good thing in a recession.

1. More listings support and hold a company steady, as if with a brace, when times are tough.

2. When a big part of the economic climate is slammed, having more listings can protect you from the impact of the downturn and allow you to keep selling homes.

Being able to list successfully may also translate into being able to sell successfully.

Just a few passing thoughts for all of my friends. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Getting listings is one name for the game.  Finding buyers is another.  Veronica

Absolutely right, Veronica. Once upon a time, it was believed that most homebuyers actually first learned about the home that they purchased from their agent. I'm not so sure that that's true anymore because of the changes in technology and the internet. Nice to hear from you.

I'd love to have more listings!  Wouldn't every real estate agent?

One of the things I have learned from my broker when I first started was "He or she who has the most listings, WINS !!! "

Now we have the most listings in the office !  So I guess we are "winning" per se.  But seriously, listings are what makes are business run.  It all starts there.

Thanks for you post !

Any time your broker's sign's in the yard you win, Christopher, Stephanie. Selling the house makes the victory sweeter, and for the seller, too. Many thanks for your good thoughts.
