ouch!  Had a similar problem with a outside light installation at a clients.  The screen door opend  and hit the light fixture so a new one had to be purchased and installed.  What should have been a two hour job (shop, purchase, install) led to a five hour job (shop, purchase, install, uninstall, return, shop, install)

Ever been in a home with 7 foot 6 inch ceilings and a ceiling fan.......What are people thinking sometimes?

Hi Karl and Lisa.  Thanks for the comments.  We actually found this out the hard way.  Opened the door right into a turning blade.  I suppose if the fan was rotating in reverse it would have just taken the door right off.  Maybe a finger too!

Richard,  I am going to guess the fan is to close to the door.  Am I correct?  What do I win?

Hi Nicole.  You're right, the fan is too close to the cabinet door.  It actually hit the door really hard when we first opened it.  And your prize, a big attagirl from HABITEC Home and Building Inspections, LLC, for seeing the problem early on!

There sure are a lot of "plan ahead" momemts in construction aren't there?

07/06/2008 01:05 PM by Charles Buell, Seattle, WA, Home Inspector (Charles Buell Inspections.com)

Hi Charles.  This kitchen also had no HVAC source and seemed warm compared to the rest of the condo.  The fan may have been added to cope with one "issue" and in fact created another.
