pngIt’s been a while since I’ve had a post featuring my canine family. Having several dogs puts me in touch with many other pet owners. From the moment I started working as a real estate agent, the difficulties that pet-owners have finding a place to live have become a major focus for my business. So when I see my pets, I am looking at a source of inspiration

Jade & Tundra are with me everywhere. People ask me what they are and are they related. They are both white Siberian Huskies and yes they are “related” though not litter mates. The white color isn’t that common in show dogs (although it is allowed in the ring) but is more typically found in sled dog lines. When people think "Sibierian Husky" they are generally thinkng of a black and white dog with blue eyes. Hence the confusion over my green and amber-eyed white dogs. Although there are show dogs in their background, they also come from a line of true sled dogs.

When I first started blogging back in September of ’07 - Tundra was a puppy about 4.5 months of age. She was introduced into my household in late July 2007. Since that time she has grown into a dog and has established herself as the mover and shaker of our little pack. Bold and energetic she is always a source of inspiration – and trouble….Jade is a very mellow if shy dog. Talk about opposites! She’ll sit by my side for hours while I work while Tundra makes it clear she has things to do, people to see and dogs to chase. But don't let the quiet exterior of Jade fool you. She is a master hunter and has chased an caught squirrls, skunks, mice and rats.png

Buddy doesn’t go with me as much as Jade and Tundra. Buddy is a rescue and is probably a mix between Australian Cattle Dog and Siberian Husky. Tough and strong, Buddy loves all people, but the same can not be said for other dogs – which is why I don’t take him on as many outings. He’s in fabulous shape for his 10.5 years, Buddy guards the house and goes for special extra walks with me when I get home at night. As far as the antics of the girls are concerned, he tends to sit above and beyond it all.

So here are some photos. I want to thank them as they have been a great resource for my blogging as well as the inspiration for my niche market.

Hi Ruthmarie, They are beautiful! I have an old cat, he'd die if I brought a dog into the house. My kids are working me for one. I'd love to rescue a dog, but I'm afraid I won't get a dog with a personality that fits in my household of young children.

Wow!  I thought I responded to these. Maybe it didn't work....

Hi Linda - this is a tough one because of the young children.  Buddy is a great dog, but he is THE reason the other two dogs are from a breeder who socialized them well. Buddy isn't a good mix for young children or other dogs.  He will accept another dog after getting to know it.  I kept both Jade and Tundra crated and away from him for almost a week until he got used to them.  They knew how to act with an "alpha male" because they had been socialized. You might go with a dog that is socialized and needs a new home for whatever reason. It  won't be a puppy, but with kids that might be best.  If that doesn't work use a reputable breeder (look up the breeds on AKC.com)  Don't use a pet shop!

Hi Pam - They are wonderful companions...I love having them with me and my life would be much the less interesting without them.  Thanks, I'm glad you like the new banner. I was experimenting with it for a while.  It was hard to work with such a narrow banner - so I never could get it quite right.  I finally worked it out  and also tweaked the color on picnic.

Ruthmarie,

The babies are very nice looking pups, I know they may not be age wise but none the less they are still pups.  Thank you for sharing them with us.

Hi Don - all dogs have a bit of puppy left in them throughout their lives - even Buddy who is really getting up there does.  Tundra is stil a true puppy in many ways.

Hi Charlene - Some dogs are one-man (one-person) dogs. Buddy's that way...Tundra a little like that.  But most Huskies just like whoever is kind to them.  German Shepherds, Doberman's  and the like tend to relate to ONE person.  I have  friend who has two German Shepherds.  Those dogs are focussed on HER.

Thanks Marie - I can't have cats like you do - I'm allergic to them. Although yours looks VERY sweet.

What nice looking dogs - you're very lucky.  I bet you feel safe with them around.

Hi Georgina -  Only Buddy is protective...Tundra may have that tendency but it is rare in a husky as a general rule.  They may look like something to contend with, but its all look and no action. The Cattle dog in Buddy (who is part Husky) is what makes him protective.
