Knowledge is the Power for Your Freedom to a Worry Free Home!

Stopping Mildew

The spores of mildew, and it's odor inside of your home can vert well trigger allergic reactions. Fortunatel, ridding wood in your home of mildew is easy. You will first need to do a test to see if the splotches are really mildew or are they plain dirt. Place a drop of household bleach that contain sodium hypochlorite on the suspected area in your home. The dark color of mildew will fade in a minute or so. If it's only dirt it will go unchanged.

If the stain has been determined to be mildew, now clean the area by sponging or brushing the surface with a solution made of one-third cup of household detergent, with one or two quarts of household bleach, and two or three quarts of warm water. You can also use household cleaners like Fantastik, and even Windex. You can also use a solution made of 30% vinegar and 70% water has been successful for taken care of mildew.

Be sure to wear gloves and eye protection, rinse the surface with clean fresh water.

2 Comments on Symptoms of a Humidity Sick Home ( Part 5 of 5 )

Dale, this is a good series.  A lot of people see a little fuzz on the walls and they run the other way, even though it is often not difficult to deal with the problems.
