Motivation

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Professional Partners

I am a new real estate agent (started in March). I know what you are asking. Why would anyone start in Real Estate NOW!?! That is a topic for another day. This writing has to do with the motivation to succeed.

One of my long-time wants has been to go to Morton's Steakhouse for one of their famous steaks. However, my lovely wife is quite sensible with our expenses. She feels that Morton's is a luxury that we don't need. This approach to finances actually is what has allowed me to give up my guaranteed paycheck to pursue my dream of being a real estate agent. We have a fair amount of reserves so I can be patient and build my business.

Recently, I vocalized my quarterly demand to go to Morton's expecting the usual pep talk about spending money wisely. This time the answer was a little different. Being the smart person that she is, she said that I could go to Morton's after I closed my first sale.

Tonight, my dreams came true. She took me to Morton's Steakhouse in Scottsdale, AZ and we celebrated my first closing from last week. In fact, she let me eat more than half of her filet. The experience was wonderful. She even enjoyed it.

I wonder what I should request for my 2nd closing which I am feverishly working toward right now.

I am curious. Do any of you have motivational rewards for your transactions? What are they?

Bob, congratulations on your closing.  In this market, they'll probably be seeing you at Morton's frequently.

Instead of transactional rewards, I do mine based on activities.  Every twenty conversations I have concerning either buying/selling real estate or referral request conversations equals a combo meal at Culver's.  It's a hamburger shop in Mesa based out of Wisconsin (I think).  The burgers are so good that I had to come up with a rationing system that would keep me from weighing 700 lbs.

Good luck in the market!

Congrats!  I applaud you for jumping into this great industry at such a challenging time.  This means to me that you are in it because you love what you do!

Bob, congratulations on your first closing!  And for joining AR.  Now I personally 'would die for' a banana split from the Sugar Bowl in downtown Scottsdale!  UMMMMMMMMMMMM maybe that's incentive to get something closed here!

Bob, Congrats!  That is great that you have had your first closing!  We try to set up a reward goal for closings it does help.  We just try not to get too extravagant.  Keep up the good work!

Bob, congratulations on your first closing. I bet that was a great steak. The reward is always better when rewarded by motivation.
