I came across a fun little tool while messing around with Google Maps "My Maps" Feature a few months back and thought I would share it with everyone.
If you have ever wondered how big a piece of land is, there is now an addon Area Calculator widget developed by Adam S. and James M. and James G. Mikesell - Sydney, AU and Pittsburgh, PA for Google Maps that allows you to view the size of an selected area.
Head on over to Maps.Google.com and go to "My Maps" Click on "Browse The Directory" then find "Area Calculator" and add it to your map and give it a try!

That is a cool little feature and I have to admit I have never noticed before either and will certainly try it out next time I'm over on Google.

You can find the Widget by going to Maps.google.com, click on My Maps on the top left side, click on Browse the Directory, Then up in the top search type in "Area Calculator" and then just add it to your maps.
