In years past, on holiday weekends, or anytime that I plan a trip somewhere or try to take a vacation, invariably the office follows me, the listing that hasn't received any showings or calls suddenly everyone wants to see or wants info faxed to them.  I take my phone with me on trips but this time I did not take my laptop and I don't have a portable fax ( nor do I take any files with me, Thank God!).

This 4th of July weekend was an exception, though.  All the 3 hour way up to see my beloved grandson in Temple, the phone did not ring- I really got worried.  I thought -maybe I didn't forward the phone, maybe I was out of range, maybe the ringer was off.  I almost couldn't enjoy the peace and quiet.  But that was not good- a good real estate brokers phone should always be ringing- are we really in an economic downturn?

I quickly forgot my troubles when I saw that sweet angelic face - who cares about the phone ringing anyway?  It was time to enjoy the hamburgers and hot dogs and great conversation with people that I love.  The phone did not ring on the way back either- I said, "Well, that's because it's Sunday and everybody is either resting from the long weekend, or driving back from the long weekend.

Tomorrow it will sink in,   I sure need to get busy! Vacations are fun, and I definitely need them, but now it's time to get back to brass tacs- the rest of the year depends on it!

Enjoy the quiet Mary Jo, it doesn't happen often enough. It's nice when you have uninterrupted family time. This was such a busy weekend for me (which I grateful for) but boy, I'm tired!

We are so tied to that phone it's ridiculous. What did we do before we had it.

Debbie,   So happy that you were so busy!

Robert,  I love my phone, couldn't be successful without it!

Ricki,  I hope the ringing will be from buyers and sellers, not American Express, or Mastercard trying to push a new credit card on me! How was your weekend? Fun with the grandkids?

Mary Jo, my phone is a bit quiet too. Although it's 100+degrees and too hot to go outside. As it cools I hope I will get back to work. I hope it's picking up for you and your grandbaby is adorable.

The phones have been quiet for a while here, and when they do ring...a lot of the time they are nonsense.  Life is about first things first, and enjoying the real gifts we have.  You were blessed with some quality time, and I'm happy to hear you had a great time.

Deb,   Hugs and Kisses from him makes all the 9 to 5 worthwhile! Dropping the price does make the phone ring.

Jim,   My problem is that I want more and more quality time- seeing him recharges my batteries for the week ahead.
