On the face of it this is simply sharing a video of the fireworks finale at the famed La Costa Resort and Spa.
As in years past, the fireworks were terrific and enjoyed by those staying at the resort, as well as many of us living in the adjacent neighborhood abutting the golf course. They even sent letters to everyone to let them know of their plans so folks could be prepared with pets, noise, etc.
But there's more.
We were invited over to our neighbors, along with others we know, for an outdoor dinner beforehand, While we don't see some of our neighbors often, once or twice a year there are some group gatherings. It really brought home the importance of the community that folks select as the place they want to live.
While one can't choose one's neighbors, it became obvious from the lively conversations all evening, that all of us bought in this area for similar reasons, and that they was much to like about the small community with La Costa as our largest neighborhood, the neighbors themselves (well, most of them), the manner in which folks look out for each other and their properties, or call upon each other for help when needed, among other things.
Our community is somewhat unique, having grown up around the resort, with homes and properties unlike many of Carlsbad's neighborhoods of tract homes, smaller lots, and newer styles. And there are lots of interesting stories about those who lived by the resort in the past, or who frequented La Costa in the early days.
It became even more clear why I enjoy what I do, and how helping buyers find a community that fits in with their lifestyle and budget, in an area where they, too, can enjoy being with the neighbors, is an important part of what I do. And the neighborhood is often one of the most important things buyers are seeking.
It is not my decision where folks buy, but I can help them through the process so they can make the buying decision that is right for them.

You certainly chose a great neighborhood in which to live! The fireworks were awesome. I'm glad you had such a festive 4th. BTW, I noticed you have your "Surfer Dude" photo back...it that for the summer:)
Hi Jeff, Nice Video on the fireworks. This summer, I think many will be be staying home and not doing as much traveling. Your neighborhood party and others like it will hopefully become more common place once again. Sharing life with friends and neighbors proves that it can be a suitable substitute to summer travel.
What a beautiful photo of the area! I spent my fourth about an hour up the coast from you in Dana Point and it was just beautiful. Hope yours was the same!
Hey Jeff,
You captured the finale well! From the sounds of the whopping and hollering everyone enjoyed it. BTW, you live in such a spectacular location, you lucky dog!
Thanks for the comments, etc. Yep, this is a pretty cool area, at least for me. I always enjoy the fireworks - the video was decent but certainly not the quality I would have liked. Perhaps something better for next year. Hope you all had a great holiday!
Yes, surfer dude is back for the summer. Unless I come up with something different.
