Teams

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Had all day training today on team building from Gene Rivers, who's got to be one of the best instructors in real estate, much less KW trainers.

Anyway, I don't have a team and I tend to refer out to those who don't have teams either.  My philosophy is that I want the person I'm talking to (when I interview them and learn a little about them, their work ethic, and more) to be the one the customer will be working with.  I'm uncomfortable referring them to a name and person when that person hands them off to a buyer specialist.

How do you handle it when you are referring to a team and you know the agent you are talking with will hand off to a team member?

Angie:

If I was referring a past client, friend or member of my Sphere of Influence, I would not like that person being handed to a team member. My personal involvement with the aforementioned people has contributed immensely to my success. Hence, I send my referrals directly to the desired agent.

I am building a team and don't see why referrals should be a problem.  Simply ask if the referral will be handled personally or handed off before you make it.  Most team leaders I know would gladly respect your wishes.

We don't have team leaders, but cant imagine anyone having a problem handling your request personally, the one that you developed a rapport with........but understand what you mean, like going to a doctor's group and seeing a different doctor every time you go!

I haven't had this experience, however, I would want to interview the person who is going to be interacting with the buyer.  I don't have anything against the team approach depending on how it is handled.

Always ask!!

Most of the time it's not an issue.

Angie, The team leader would let you know who would be handling the referral! If you wanted to, you should speak directly to the agent! I have always been very successful referring to team leaders because I have somebody to watch over the transaction for me and it has always worked out! Good luck!

On my team, if the referrer says they want me and only me, then I will work it.  The beauty of the team is that my buyer specialists are just that, specialists.  If I was trying to do everything, sellers, buyers, admin etc, how good of service would your referral get?

I was supposed to be there today for the class but other things got in the way.

Angie,

I'm jealous! I am from Gene's Keller Williams Office in Jacksonville (Mandarin). WE usually get to hear Gene teach on THursdays. I LOVE listening to him, he IS THE BEST trainer!!! I'm amazed more agents don't show up for the training....no matter how long you've been in business...you can ALWAYS get 'alittle' better!

I'm a Professional Golfer too, and you always need a coach. Even Annika Sorenstam and Tiger Woods, who are the BEST golfers on their respective LPGA and PGA tours....THEY still go to a coach/trainer to learn more about their swing with the hopes to get "alittle bit" better each time!!

I LOVE TO LEARN!!
