Last week I had dinner with some friends/clients who now live in a new home in Old Trail. It was great to see my friends and they brought up an interesting subject.... "RECYCLING"

When we moved to the Charlottesville area about 8 years Charlottesville Recycleago, we were stunned to find out that recycling was not very easy to do. We were used to sorting paper, plastic, bottles and cans and leaving them on the curb.

Well we now have a local company (thanks for bringing this to my attention John and Barbara) who is going after the recycling business.

visit: http://www.myrecyclingclub.com/ for more information!

It is a great idea and with it will bring competition and the prices will only get better.

Let me know if you have any questions?

regards from Charlottesville

Charles, I liked how you talked about changing times in recycling. I visited Oregon from Texas many years ago and tossed my aluminum 7-Up can into the trash at a meeting. They all looked at me like I was nuts since there was a 5 cent deposit on the can. I sure learned that some states were way ahead of others with recycling.

Recycling is a must. If we want any kind of future for our grand kids. The waste we produce is a sin.

It's easy in Virginia Beach as we have big 40 gallon cans we throw everything into and the city does the sorting for us.

We hav friends who live in VA who have to take their recycling to an area out in the mdddle of no where.  There they sort their recycle down between hugh dumpsters.  No curbside pick-up for them!

Charles, It is amazing how fast people of all ages adopted the idea of recycling... My nephew who is only six and his brother only five already know the word. They have it in their every day vocabulary and has a magic power attached to it. In a funny way they will do anything if asked in the name of it! ... Today's kids!

It is easy for us we try to buy with containers that are easy on the land fills and separate the recyclables it takes time but every bit we do is worth the effort.

Charles, As progressive as Brentwood is, if you want to recycle, you have to separate the trash yourself and take the items down to the recycling center yourself. All of Brentwood has private disposal companies that service the city and none of them offer recycling...

Charles - I am always amazed when I find communities that do not recycle! We were doing that 30 years ago when I lived in Germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
