Groups On ActiveRain

Why did ActiveRain create the opportunity to allow members to start and join groups?
BRAD got me to thinking, thinking leads to jotting stuff down, and we all know what that leads to- Gotta write a post- sorry- cw
I have seen various posts on this subject. I have even joined in with my 2 cents worth in the comment section a time or two. For the record, please mark my tally in the "leave it alone and quit being a whiner" column.
I joined the community several years ago and didn't immerse as quick as some did (I could have been a contender!) (I've been back a couple of months) Thanks for not deleting me for inactivity and thanks for the RAIN-er who e-mailed a gentle reminder that I needed to come back and see the whistles and bells for myself. I wonder if we all took it on ourselves to encourage those that are slowing down if this place would be more of the utopia the founders projected it to be.
I have also started a couple of groups- The first one was started in fun and has turned out to be a nice place to hang out in the rain. The CHERYL group is open to gals named Cheryl and has a little of everything- I think it is nice way to get exposed to different ideas in the blog world. And you are sure to get a comment or two from a Cheryl!
My other group isn't as populated yet, but with time should be a go to place for Quilters/Crafters. Most regions have an event that needs publicized but not necessarily a place to post. This is the spot to get a little attention. I need to promote it more (can you do that for me today?)
The popular groups are that way for a reason, they meet a need in the community. I am here to learn and grow and the best way to do that is to jump in and get wet. Thanks in advance to everyone who is here to encourage me. Back at ya- be good cheryl
Aloha and Good Morning Cheryl W. Hope you are having a FANTASTIC DAY!!! Im sure glad you started the Chery Group!!! its been one of my favorites. i actually check in to the Cheryl group everyday to see what others have written and I have learned A LOT about blogging from the ladies in your group. Hey and thanks to Cheryl G for inviting me :) Thanks for the advise about Empty Nesting :)))) You are surely correct when you told me "not to expect to hear from her once she leaves" ...well i havent expected it and she hasnt called hardly at all (maybe two times) since she has been gone to college...she does email me though....which is very nice.....she has become very busy and has gotten a job on campus and she is having a wonderfult time enjoying her new found freedom and exploring the world.....
Thanks for sharing......take care......
