I'm sure many of you have seen this happen....an agent joins a company all excited, because their friend, with that company, is making great money and is successful. Then a year or even a few months later, they are with a new company, all pumped up about how great it is going to be. Then several months later...a new set of business cards and a new logo on their website. A short few years and they are burnt out and out of the business all together.

I saw this when I was in the auto industry and also when I was in mobile home sales....heck I was even guilty of it at times in my life.

What I have come to realize is that what we are searching for isn't something to be found, but something to be made. There is no magic pill, company, or program............... What we want can be had, but the place we need to search is within. Find a great company, with a good support program and then work on YOU. Work on your systems. Work on your database. Work on your image. Most importantly, work on your attitude.

As you build your clientele and your referral network, too much hoping around just creates an image of instability and indecision, while undermining the confidence you are trying to earn from your clients.

This is just on guys opinion....but I hope it helps.

Happens all the time. When they leave and go to the next place they will follow the same pattern.

Chuck, the grass just looks greener - something to do with the light or the angle or something. :) Steve

Agents need to know it isn't the company, it's the agent. If you think the logo on your business card is going to make you successful you have already lost.

Chuck, Great post.  Hanging in there is the most important thing to do.  When the going gets tough, dig in and hang in there.  When times are slow, educate yourself.  There's always something to learn.

Chuck,

Truer words have never been spoken.  I too have been guilty of trying to find those greener pastures.  I, like you, have realized that I was running away from myself and my own fears only to find the same thing when I got to my new job.

Now I am at a place I hope to be for a long, long time - because I am working on myself, my image, and my attitude.  Chasing the money doesn't work.  If I do everything I know I am capable of doing, and help others along the way, happiness and money will come to me no matter where I work.

Chuck, Like you I spent a lot of years selling vehicles and not moving around. When I had the opportunity to work in real estate I jumped at the chance to be my own boss again. The only problem is that the support of one brokerage to another sometimes seems to be night and day; my feeling is like in automotive people by from people they feel good about; so if in the first years if you could switch to save and make more money then it would be fine to move but don't make it a habit.

Thanks, Ray

Hard times call for desperate measures. I think Realtors are always looking for the easy money.
