So far this season, we have only endured the smoke of fires to our west, toward Sacramento, Yuba City and such. But the forest are dry and very dangerous. If you visit our beautiful Lake, please be very careful. I was following someone today who threw their cigarette out the window. It angered me so much I followed them, took down their license number and reported it to the local authority who said they would put a bulletin out and pull over the truck and issue a warning.
Last Summer we had a bad fire in South Lake Tahoe that destroyed the homes of over 300 families. The year before that, someone threw a cigarette out of the gondola going to the top of Heavenly Ski Resort and burned several dozen acres. So, have some class and don't throw trash out the car window and especially don't throw anything that will potentially start a fire in our or anyone else's forest.
