MIrela:  I would love for you to include a link to whatever it was that you saw that impressed you so much.  I would love to see it, and I am sure many others would, too.  Thanks for sharing.

I just did; it's right in my blog.

They've redesigned the whole thing.  The blogs just flow...  The pictures, the look...  Awesome!

Mirela my friend.  I just left this comment on the featured blog about Localism and am not thrilled:

"I have to say I like the color schemes and layout of the new Localism very much but I liked the way the old Localism separated the blogs, ie, community interest vs. market reports and listings.  The new Localism runs all the community interest blogs together with listings, market reports etc.  For instance, one can read an interesting community blog and right below it is a very lengthy vflyer or postlet post advertising a listing taking up a lot of space with the layout unbalanced.  If I am a visitor I have to scan through a lot of stuff I am not interested in to read what I am interested in. I just like it if everything is in categories and organized instead of running together with no semblance of order.

In comparison, I could use the old Active Rain Search tool and find useful informatin very fast when the search tool was separated into 3 categories. I could search for Members, Blog Titles, or blog content.  Now the search tool is harder because it just lumps everything together.  I know many Active Rainers that don't use it anymore for that very reason".

Just my humble opinion

Howdy Mirela

The new Localism does look very fine. I also do not like that everything is all grouped together.

Reckon we'll just have to wait and see what consumer's think about it.

God Bless The U.S.A.

The new localism does look good.  Now if only I could convince the realtors in Stone Mountain to start posting some market reports for the consumers...

George:  You have some very good points.  I haven't had time to play with it and figure out just how the blogs get on the front page.   I will certainly have to figure out just how to insert them to Localism for the maximum bang.  I didn't know that about the AR search tool.  Thank you for the info.  I really do need to come to you with questions; you are eons ahead of me with this...

Aida:  Do that!  As I am delving into the new Localism I am discovering some grave concerns.  Does anyone know how we can ensure garnering our areas?  It's all very fuzzy at the moment: the cost, the areas, etc.  All I know is that you can not purchase your areas until July 31, 2008 at 12 noon.  How do I ensure that my competitor, who does a lot of pro bono work for AR, does not get first dibs to my areas?   I certainly don't want my hard work - my blogs - to have my competitor's banner all over them!

This reminds me of my recent break-up from my long term boyfriend:  fully vested for NOTHING!  Is all my work in vain?  Is there a theme here?

HELP!!!

Serendipity, always the theme of my life.  Another case in point:

Localism was officially unveiled on July 9-th.  Having not visited Localism in several weeks, or even months, it is serendipity that drew me to it within minutes of it's inception.  I discovered the new Localism within minutes of it's inception...  by fate.  Yet, another proof of my unbelievable ability to intuit.  It happens all the time, yet I am always amazed.

I wrote this blog shortly after discovering the new, very attractive look of Localism.  Since then, reading other members' posts on it, I started growing concerned.

I still have numerous questions, yet some of my concerns have been addressed by a great blog written by Jonathan Washburn:  http://activerain.com/blogsview/586195/Localism-Q-A-Official

Jonathan has a lot of good information on this blog regarding the new Localism.  Please check it out and tell me what you think!  Thank you!

Question: What are the Top Neighbors, and can I pay to be ranked higher?

Answer: Top Neighbors is a ranking of the top content contributors for each region. The Top Neighbors list is completely based on user content contribution and there is no way to buy your way to a higher ranking.

HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF!!!

Quality content still pays off!  That's GREAT!  I will continue to contribute.  This really was my main concern.  This is great news!  Thank you AR!  I'm sorry I doubted you for a few hours!  My apologies!  I won't do it again!  You've always been so good to me!  Thank you!

Mirela,

I really need to do some more snooping around Localism.  I do hope they dress up the front page a bit.

George... I think I have to agree with you on both of your complaints.  Sometimes it really does make sense that when it ain't broke you shouldn't fix it... at least the parts you mention.

Deb:  You really need to quit "holding back" your thoughts on this... and tell us how you feel... :)  Keeping everything bottled up inside of you really isn't good for you.  Honestly, Deb, I have many of the same misgivings as you have.  I have even been thinking about scaling back all the time I put in here on Active Rain... if it continues to appear that sneaky shortcuts can be taken by others to come off labeled "community experts."

Here is the way I see it:

This place is FREE.

This place has enhanced my business tremendously.

The AR team has done an amazing job so far.  Why shouldn't I trust them to continue?

There is a saying in Romanian:  "Don't bite the hand that feeds you!"

I know that in my own business, I take decisions my agents don't like, but in the end they see the value in the changes made.

No one likes change, but guess what?  Life is full of nothing but change.  Learning to adapt is really the most important task.  Embracing the changes and seeing the positive in them is a good starting point to a successful "journey".

AR Rocks!

I love the new Localism!

...And that's all I have to say about that (Sorry, I've watched Forrest Gump once too many times!)

I love the new localism.com too.  But anyone else finding it lags behind by several days, or even a week, from the fresh blog posts on AR?
