I talk about the shelter I volunteer at - last week we witnessed a very sad situation.  A frantic couple ran into the shelter with their lifeless beagle pup.  The pup wandered from his yard and ended up next door at the neighbor's house.  The gate to the neighbor's pool was ajar and the puppy went in to investigagte.  The inevitable happened and the poor pup drowned.  Please - keep children and pups away from unsupervised pools and one must never take their eye off of a puppy (or a baby)- they are so inquisitive that dangerous things can happen.

Very sad story! Unfortunately I have heard a similar story, puppies are like babies and small children, they are so curious about everything. You really need to watch then at all times.

Children drown every day here in FL due to parents who just arent keeping a good eye on them.  We have laws here requiring pools to be fenced, but are rarely enforced.  Sorry to hear about that puppy.  I do know, there is a ramp of sorts that can be attached to the side of a pool, incase a dog falls in.  However, I don't think a puppy would be astute enough to know how to get to one.

I too hate to hear stories like this, but hopefully with you sharing this it will keep our minds atune to what can happen. I do like the ramp idea.
