The letter was written by a "fan" here on Active Rain.  Someone that apparently gets very upset at my blog.  Someone at least slightly disturbed.

She may have worked for my old company, but certainly not my old office.  She has never met me, I am sure of that.

Since the author obviously put so much time into writing and since they are an avid reader, I thought I would post the letter.

I must say it boggles my mind that someone would go to such lengths to be mean.  Anyway, the lettter:

I just read where you hired Ken Tracy for your team.  First, I'm sure you will get a large reward in Heaven for hiring a dead-beat agent.  I had the displeasure of working with Mr. Tracy at REMAX.  All he did was complain about no business.  He loves to socialize with agents and walk around with his coffee but he doesn't really work.  But he has no problem asking if you need his help if you have any extra buyers.

I happened to find his blog at www.activerain.com last week an he is the joke of his old office.  Just go there and look for Ken Tracy.  You will be shocked at his negativity and lazyness.  This guy must sit around and blog all day long.  Today he blogged about key-lime pie!  No kidding!  I read some responses where agents tried to help him by encouragement and he's like "it will come when it comes".

I can't imagine anyone asking him to be their realtor.  When he worked at my office, he was renting which is pretty hard to explaine to BUYERS and SELLERS when he rents.  Don't we tell people all the disadvantages of renting?  BUT now he wrote that he had to move in with his sister-in-law because they can't afford to rent!!!!!!  My favorite blog is where he admits to accepting food stamps supplied by the government.  He admits to working as a limo driver part-time.  We all make fun of him behind his back in the Naperville, Plainfield area because his is "so out there".  He compains on his blog about lack of business but doesn't seem to really want to work.  I think he would have no problem with someone handing him business but wouldn't we all?

I also noticed he has no problem blogging about his office.  Be ready for your business to be displayed for the world to see.  He WILL blog about KW-trust me!

He also admits to being fired by RE/MAX because he was 2 months behind in fees.  Why would someone blog this?  Wouldn't a normal person be embarrassed?

Also, he blogged that he couldn't decide between REMAX and KW...I know the broker at the neighboring office and Ken wasn't the one that made the decision on his working there.

Good luck and I really mean that.

Ouch.  That wasn't very nice.

Ken

well... this is a different kind of post... LOL... I looked back at your previous posts and see that you get a lot of comments... so that is good... you can't be all bad.  ;-)

Ken, I'm a bit surprised you would post this.  It paints you in a quite a negative light.  Yet you offer no rebuttal, you just sit there and "take it."  If I were going to post a negative letter about me, I would at least offer something to shed some light on the letter, otherwise, people might believe the letter.  I am more than a bit confused as to why anyone would post a completely negative letter about themselves and let it stand on its own merit.

Unbelievable that someone did this. I have never seen anything like it. This smacks of an ethics violation. We have had agents go somewhere else, if we didn't like them it was, good riddance and that was it. We all need to find our niche.

Wow Ken, at least you have fans!!!  That sounds like someone who is jealous of your new move.  That is funny.  Why do people even bother if they won't sign their name, cowards

Welcome to KW

Ken,  I know how hurtful and smallminded some people can be.  Someone is probably jealous of your blogging.  I would delete this and act as if it never happened.

You shouldn't let people like that touch you in a negative way.  Let it go and get on with your business, your success will be proof enough.

Good luck in your new position. It is really sad that someone took time to try to negatively impact your life that way.

Take care.

Hi Kevin, Jeff, Ray, Gregory, and Shirley.  Thanks for stopping by.

I wasn't sure what to do with the letter.  I thought of countering various points.

In the end, I thought I would let such needlessly hateful venom stand on it's own.

Hi Ken,

That nasty email was probably not sent by a RE/MAX agent.  You are most likely another victim of an internet troll who is trying to disrupt your life.  Let this be a warning to all Active Rainers.  I've seen nonsense like this before.

Remember: This is the internet.  Think before you post.  There are some sick people out there who might try to cause trouble for you.  I've been on the internet since the last century.  I've seen some bad things happen.  When you post on Active Rain, or any other public forum, you are giving information to the whole wide world - not just friendly real estate agents.

My best advice?  Ignore the trolls.  I'm very serious about this.  Never respond to trolls.  If they post something in your thread, delete them without comment.  It's just a silly game for them.  If you respond, you lose.  They are experts at getting people upset.  Don't let that happen.  If you ignore them, they eventually lose interest and move on.

Hi Ken, there are always sour grapes and it is surprising that someone would send this letter. It says a lot that it was done anononymously. Your approach to blogging is much more open than most people's. I know that I could not be as upfront as you are. That said, we all do our best to protect our reputations, and it is hard enough protecting your online reputation. If I was a prospective customer and I saw this post it might give me second thoughts. If I were you I'd go back and use the delete button.

Hi again Ken,

Peter's right.  I recently advised another Active Rainer to delete a post because it was something that could have been used against him.  You want your clients and prospects to be impressed with your blog.  Don't give the trolls the satisfaction of any more exposure.  Hit the delete key.

Ken,

Delete this blog....your better than this.

Hi Greg, NYL, Peter, an NYL.  Thanks for stopping by.

Better than what??  I didn't write the letter.  Therefore I am not embarassed by it.

No need to delete, just make it members only.   This does not show you in a bad light, any anonymous person can write crap like that.

07/09/2008 05:37 PM by Jeff Payne, Real Estate in Panama City, FL (The Payne Group at Keller Williams Success Realty)

Hi Ken,

It's your blog, so you are free to do whatever you want with that negative email.  However, as someone who has years of experience dealing with sick people like that, I strongly advise you to delete this entire thread.  Real estate is tough enough without adding fuel to the fire.  I'm a bottom line kind of guy.  Are you hoping to use your AR blog to attract business?  This thread will probably have the opposite result.

Best regards,

Bruce

I stand corrected.  Jeff's suggestion is another option.

07/09/2008 05:38 PM by Not Yet Licensed

Delete it all......."Successful people have the shortest memories...."  Forget this and move on...words CAN damage a reputation....that is why they have defamation lawsuits.....delete the negative crap...your friends don't want to read that anyway....then go get to work and sell some houses....

Hi Ken,

So, you have a fan club at Re/Max!! Too bad their attempt to improve their typing skills didn't go all the way to the salutation. Speaks LOUD about the character of the author.

Responding would only lower you to their level. I would suggest, however, that you make the post "Members only" A prospective client in all likelyhood wouldn't take the time to check beyond this post.

Just my point of view.

Kick butt at KW!

Too late to make it members only, it is already syndicated. Oh well, I have to admire you for putting it out there for all to see...

Ken,

Don't worry about it man.  Take Not Licensed Yet's advice and just ignore it.  It is probably just a troll looking for attention.  I guess this person gets some sort of self justification by writing this.  I say....Meh!

Sounds like bitter grapes to me.  Does this person have nothing better to do???

Hi John, J and K, Missy, Todd, and Jeff.  Thanks for stopping by.

I was wondering that too, John.  I promise you, I am not THAT bad of a guy.

Why are you conducting all of these blogs with your personal information for the world to see?  Is it helping your business?  Is it helping your professional image?

07/10/2008 09:02 PM by A Friend

Hi Kris and A Friend.  Thanks for stopping by.

I write because it is a story worth telling.  Is it helping my business or image?

Who knows.

Perhaps your boss would have taken the letter more seriously had it not contained four hundred and two spelling/grammatical mistakes.  Don't sweat this costing you any business.  Not only does the author come off as semi-literate at best, but petty and vindictive as well.  I wouldn't post anything like it in the future as repetition can spell F-A-C-T to many, but this is laughably sophomoric.

Hi Paul.  Good points all.  I always tend to draw some fire.  I swear I don't try.
