.
As promised, here is the first group of images that I'm making available to the Active Rain community to use as backgrounds with the new AR outside blogs.
These are just the first in a series of blog header graphics. In the coming weeks I'll be adding more images in various colors, textures and styles. If you have ideas, suggestions, requests... let me know and I'll keep them in mind when designing the next batch.
And YES, these images are FREE to use on your Active Rain blogs.
Important!!! Read This Before Using These Images
# 1 - I designed these graphics from my artwork and photography, I am the copyright owner
# 2 - You have my permission to use them in any way you like here on your AR outside blog
# 3 - The images are not to be used for any other purpose or on any other blog or website
All of the header images are exactly 742 X 105 pixels so you won't have to resize them to use in your AR blog. Below are the preview images. You can download and see the full size images at...

If you take a look at the graphics above you'll notice one thing they all have in common is space where text can easily be added.
If you don't have graphics software to add your own text, you can always upload any of these images to one of the many free online image editing sites like Picnik to add the text you want. Then save the image and upload it to your Active Rain outside blog.
For those of you who missed my short tutorial a few months ago about creating clean, easy to read blog headers, here are the highlights...
- to make your blog header text easy to read, make sure it contrasts with the background color or image
- for a light background, use dark text
- for a dark background, use light text
- for a medium background (i.e. grey), use a very dark or a very light text
If your text or logo doesn't have enough contrast with your background image/color, it will get washed out and will be very difficult to read. Here's an example of what not to do using the words "Can U Read This?"...
The color of text in the image above is too similar to the colors in the background so it gets lost and is very difficult to read. Not good!
When I have time, I'll be posting more images for Active Rain's outside blogs. Again if you have ideas, suggestions, requests... let me know and I'll keep them in mind when I design the next batch. Enjoy!
