Do We Need Politics?

By
Education & Training

In Texas Realtor, Aug '08 issue, Randy Jeffers tackles the above question in his article "Can't We Just Avoid Politics?"  As someone who avoided politics other than voting, I didn't understand the procedures and the business of government.  But now I realize that political involvement is a required, absolute necessity to guide my future, Realtor's future and my customers and clients.  Voting once every two years or four is not enough.  So I started getting involved, reading, checking out the candidates and the incumbents, checking backgrounds and meeting the political figures who can decide my future.  And in order for me to be an advocate of anything, I must be involved in the political process.  Check it out for yourselves.  I urge ya'll to get involved too.

Robert,  It is very important to be involved in your local politics and city and county government, if only to know what decisions they are making.  What they do affects your life and pocketbook. Being present and more importantly, voicing  your opinion's  at these meetings may change someones mind and vote. In our local elections, it's not uncommon for a race to be won by 20 or less votes. Tomorrow I will be at Commissioner Court, and I will be paying attention.  Thanks for your post:)

Politics is kind of a dirty word in America today. Maybe a better term to use would be, "the business of the people." Politics plays a very, very large part of people's everyday life. It impacts us in ways we may not even know. It pays, big time, to be knowledge about the various issues at the local, state, and federal level.
