Deal or No Deal?

Have you ever made a deal with the devil?  Ok, so it may not be the “devil” but it could be your broker, your lender, the agent on the other side of a deal, a building inspector etc.  Even before you make the deal you know in your gut that it is wrong.  You know what I am talking about, in the broadest sense of the term it goes something like this……..If you do this then I will do this”.  Be careful what you deal for you may not like it.  Oh it may feel right and may even seem like it’s the right thing to do but, you know down deep it is not.

Not long ago I was in this very scenario and once I put myself into it I was miserable because I had violated my conscience.  No, it was not a matter of being unethical, it wasn’t a moral issue but it was something that I had voiced opposition to for some time.  My problem was that I was not making any headway in that that I felt very strongly about and I found this to be my only choice if I wanted to get my way.

Once the deal was struck that that I had feared most happened now what do I do?  I had to do something.  Come to find out in the background something was being done and verified that I had been right all along.

So, what did I learn form making a deal with the devil?  I learned to stick to my guns and in this case the problem solved itself.  Don’t violate your conscience, trust God and take the higher road, there is someone that is seeing the same thing that you are and they can reach the people that you are having the problem with.

Remember you do not have to make a deal with the devil and you do not have to do the “Deal or No Deal” either Phil. 4: 13 tells me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Have you ever been there?  Did you get what you want?  Was it as good as you thought it would be?

I find that I am usually wrong if I go against my gut instincts.  I hope everything works out for you in this matter.

Don-I find that when I do things for the wrong reasons many times maybe being a little selfish or being just not nice it backfires in my face!

Don,

Thanks for the post. I usually go with my instincts. I have learned that it is always better to deal with the hard issues immediately. Otherwise, its just destined to bite you!

Don, at our office they have that mantra Win Win or No Deal. It seems like the right approach to me.

Don...

I had a "situation" yesterday and I'm sick about it. I don't want to go into detail but I lost a lot of sleep over it last night. A timely post, that's for sure!

Don, I take advice from Pinocchio- let your conscience be your guide.  If my gut tells me something's not right I just don't do it.  It's not worth it.  But then sometimes you get suckered into something.  I hope everything works out.  Is there a way you can back out of it or say you changed your mind?

Good evening Richard,

I hear you, I hope that you get some sleep tonight.  Sometimes this is what happens in these types of situations.

Hey Becky,

This situation is starting to work itself out and I am able to breathe a little easier now.  The real solution will not be known until September though.

Hi Don: I always listen to my conscience, and it has never let me down nor abandoned me in a time of crisis. My ethics and integrity are not for sale. I was talking to another Active Rainer yesterday about this. We were discussing the time-share aggressiveness of people in Cabo San Lucas. The hotel offered my husband and me $300 and a free seafood lunch if we would attend a one-hour timeshare presentation. I refused. My husband was wanting to grab the $300. But it was my vacation, and I'm not for sale.

Good morning Elizabeth,

Thank you for stopping by this morning and commenting.  Isn't it amazing though when you do compromise yourself you know it right away and regret it.
