Rendezvous Coffee HouseThis morning I treated myself.  I met my friend Yuki at a new local hotspot, Rendezvous House of Coffee.

I arrived early, knowing I wanted to snap a few pictures so I could share my visit.  I'm getting used to walking up to people with my business card out, telling them that I write a blog for my business and I'd like to give them a little free advertising.  So far this has granted me nothing but smiles and an invitation to take all the pictures I want.  The staff at Rendezvous was extremely friendly and helped me feel right at home.

This was my first visit, but it won't be my last.

Rendezvous is a little jewelbox of a restaurant.  The menu has more variety than I expected.  Since this was a "second breakfast" for me, I just got a regular mocha and shared a cranberry muffin with Yuki. The beverage menu is long and detailed.  You'll have your choice of many combinations of coffee drinks, espressos, non-espresso drinks, smoothies, tea, and cold and frozen beverages.  They have a nice selection of paninis, soups, sandwiches and salads for lunch or dinner.  The desserts caught my eye, too .... but that would have to wait for another visit!  Enjoying Coffee

They offer catering, just ask and they'll be happy to tell you about it.  On occasion they'll have live music or other events.  Wi-fi is free for all -- this will draw me in on a morning when I want to work away from the house, but not quite at the office.  I'll have to remember to put an ad on the top of my laptop before I do this.

The Deaf Chat Coffee group meets here the first Friday of each month from 5:00 to close.  This is a social group for the deaf community, their families, friends and people learning American Sign language.  For a deaf person moving to a new area, this group is an excellent way to meet the deaf community in their new town.  (UPDATE:  I found an interesting cartoonist Seating Areathat gives us a glimpse into deaf culture!  Visit M. Daigle's Site.)

Yuki and I enjoyed a leisurely visit with each other.  We took our time with our coffees while I flipped through pictures of her recent visit back to Japan.  We talked and laughed and spent much more time there than would have felt comfortable in an ordinary restaurant.  This is a nice place to hang out.

Rendezvous House of Coffee is located at 7 Liberty Plaza in Hurricane, WV.  Their hours are Monday - Friday 7AM to 10PM, Saturday 8AM to 10PM and Sundays from 10AM to 9PM.  You may reach them by phone at 201-2204 or fax in your order at 201-1659.  (For faxed orders, they request that you also give your name and phone number.

Hi Sarah,

I go to the local coffee joint here in Weston FL, I usually grab a shot of expresso late in the day with alittle cold milk, because it is too hot for me to drink hot this time of year, I love coffee ,but not into too much of the flavored stuff, I do tend to have a frozen smoothie on occaison as a meal substitute.

Live long and java!

So that is a hot-spot in small town America?  Hope they can drag in a few more bodies, they cannot survive selling a Mocha or two with a shared muffin.

Mr. Cummings shouldn't be critical of something he knows nothing about. The people who visit Rendezvous appreciate the fact that it isnt as commercialized as Starbucks and that the people there take an avid interest in their customers. And if he had read what Ms. Cooper wrote, he would have noticed that she said she arrived early. People, especially in small towns, aren't lining up at the crack of dawn for a drink, no matter how good it may be.
