Club Chaos Eye Candy: The New York Hall of Science

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.

According to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, "The Hall of Science was built for the 1964 World's Fair. Today, the facility is New York City's only hands-on science and technology museum." Being a mom always on the search for something for the little people to do I found myself thinking, "Now how cool is that?"

After my turtle run in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, I am here to tell you it's awesome! There are NSA Rockets parked outside gleaming in the sunshine, people! Where else in New York City can a person casually stroll by such gorgeous out-of-this-world eye candy? (In my case, turtle run, but I digress...)

This place is all about the kids -- check out the kid empowerment zone! If you want to schedule yourself a seriously fun play date with your children (and sneak in some educational science while frolicking) please feel free to take yourself down to the New York Hall of Science located at 47-01 111 Street, Corona NY 11368 (718) 699-0005.

Here's a little eye candy from my turtle run today. Enjoy!

These places look really neat.  I have only been to Manhattan so that is how I think of all NYC. :-)Reminds me of how some people visit Texas for the first time and are surprised that Texas isn't all cactus and cowboys.

Hey Shirley, there are a lot of really neat things to do throughout New York City. I think it is a shame that people limit their explorations when they come for a visit. Maybe posting to Localism and ActiveRain will potentially improve out-of-area visits if we let people know what our neighborhoods truly have to offer.

Holy crap, C, I've never seen a rocket up close. It's really spectacular!

The thing that looks a series of doors without glass, is that some sort of Disney-like sky ride?

Hey Elizabeth, it's part of the kid empowerment zone where they actually teach them about science in the play area. They Plexiglas off certain sections to control the flow of little people running a-muck. Lots of interactive stations between spots to climb/cross miniature bridges, windmills, DNA Helix, portal tubes, etc.  It's a really cool play area. My kids are crazy about it.

Inside the Hall of Science there's a "Make it & Take It activity area, a "Magic School Bus" area based upon the scholastic series, an evening sky planetarium show, a hands on astro-observatory. There is  even a pre-school hands on exhibit with over 20 activities for the little people to engage in and so much more. As far as I am concerned it is the best (less than $5.00 per) activity money can buy in the area.

Hey Barbara, I was like a little kid hanging out under the trees staring at those things. They are HUGE and very very cool to be near.
