Here's a GREAT idea for a PRESENTATION your audience will remember......

Hi EVERYONE! Ok, so i have had this idea for some time now for this "thing" to do at a Presentation. I haven't had the right opportunity to do it...I am SUPER busy right now starting a 2nd company and helping my hubby start his first. (This is SO why I am a Gemini for those of you who have read Michelle's Recent Post: http://activerain.com/blogsview/584245/Have-you-ever-wondered.) And I also haven't tried it because frankly...I am not sure I have the "kahunas." HA!

Anywho. I want you to mentally picture the following. I think you will catch onto where I am going. :)

You are sitting in any audience of sorts, awaiting the key note speaker to come out to talk about Home Staging. Much to your surprise, this lady (or gentleman) comes out wearing a ROBE and has rollers in their hair (or it's just messy). "WHAT!" You are thinking this to yourself. "What the HECK? THis is supposed to be a Home Staging Expert and now here's this fruit loop who apparently didn't get ready in time for the presentation." While you are busy contemplating with your neighbors as to why this person is starting to rattle on and on about the importance of Home Staging, when they OBVIOUSLY are a looney tune, the speaker stops and says "Do any of you notice that I showed up today looking a little strange?" This has your attention. A few members of the audience nod. The speaker starts to talk again and slowly starts to remove the robe to reveal a nice suit underneath... "You see this is the precise point as to why HOME STAGING is so important... You all were way to busy focusing on the negatives of my presentation when I walked out that you weren't even focused on all the great things I had to say." THe speaker then sits down, removed the house shoes and replaces them with nice dress shoes..."Home Staging is about making the best presentation of the house possible, when you start removing the layers that keep that presentation's message from rining clear, the home becomes something buyers can relate to, see themselves living in and it becomes someone elses perfect home."...The speaker removed the rollers from her hair and brushes it out..."When you finally remove all of the perspective changing elements of a home, the end result is a perfect presentation that provides the message a buyer can hear clearly: 'This is the perfect home for me.'"

The end.

Now, that audience will remember YOU and most importantly THE IMPORTANCE OF HOME STAGING forever. A little self humiliation can go a long way. :) It doesn't have to be a robe...maybe you just show up for a sales meeting with messy hair or in mis-matched clothes or something.

SO if any of you have a big to-do coming up, I would LOVE for you to give this a try and report back. One of these days, I will do this...it will just have to be the proper opportunity!!!

Hi Amber, This sounds like a hoot. Terrylynn Fisher told me about a post the Yvonne Root did that was similar to this it was really funny, and I'm sure they will remember you.  I would like to try it out sometime myself, I think it's a great idea.

Amber great idea!

I think you've definitely got the kohuna's to do this...but I don't think you could look bad even if you tried!

Donna- You definately should try! :) Talk about making a lasting first impression up in NWA! Heck those people may need some shaking up anyways to "GET THE PICTURE!!" I'll have to  check out that post Yvonne did!

Michelle - You live close to New Orleans, right? I am sure you have the kohunas for sure! :)

Dane- That means a lot come from a firecracker like you!!!! Thank you...but I promise...I can infact look bad. Like right now for instance. Just had to move stuff into a house. Here in Arkansas it's HOT and STICKY and I look like a drowned rat. :)

THANKS ALL FOR READING AND YOUR COMMENTS ON MY "OUT THERE" IDEA!

Amber- LOVE IT!!! Reminds me of a time I was room mother for my daughter's class, and she told me the morning of their Halloween party that the moms need to wear costumes. There was a floral housecoat in the guest room closet that my mother-in-law had left, so I put it on, put my hair in pink sponge rollers, stuck a TV guide in one pocket, and candy wrappers in the other, rolled some knee high stockings down to my ankles, and stuck my feet in a pair of big fluffy slippers. My daughter (this was 5th grade) nearly DIED when she saw me, and NEVER forgot to tell me something ever again. If I had the nerve to do that, I DEFINITELY have the nerve to try your idea! Now, I just need to set something up....

Elaine- That is the most hilarious thing I have EVER heard! How awesome....and what a clever way to teach a valuable lesson. I am keeping that one in my back pocket.

Please do try and report back....Maybe it will inspire me to finally DO IT!

Ok - I'm in.

A corporate office of a RE agency is holding a class for their agents regarding producing quality listings, and I have been invited to participate doing a presentation on the benefits of home staging.

However, I would have to practice-practice-practice keeping a straight face before dis-robing.  This seems like it could be such an effective visual aid.

Right now the class is scheduled for the end of the month, so if I pull this off I'll let you know.

Susan! YOU MUST DO IT! And please take a picture of yourself.... :) Yes, practice could be good. I think I would need to or I would turn red and crack up.

Virginia - Wow! See there's your sign that you should proceed with your idea. I am glad I am not the only seemingly-crazy person out there. :)
