Hi Brian,

Thanks for interviewing us! i was quite nervous during the interview as I only seem to do interviews when Bob commits me to them without asking me first, as was the case today. The funny thing is I am even more nervous to listen to it.  I don't think I could stand listening to myself ramble on for 45 minutes.  Hopefully people enjoy it. You did a great job leading the discussion.

Jon,

You have a face people can trust, but you talk too fast...on the other hand, Bob has a pretty good voice, but...oh well!!! LOL, Thanks,   Fran

P.S. You all three did well in the interview!!!

Fran,  Thats why I have Bob do all the talking. I have always struggled with slowing down my rate of speech.  You should have heard me 10 years ago!

Lisa, No this is a brand new interview done this afternoon.  I would also suggest you listen to Bob's radio interview today on RealEstateRadio USA.

Good...

When I came back this morning the system was off line. I was returning to say a few things to the three of you. The first was, why isn't this featured? I see it is now :)

The second was Ricky's (Brian's) thoughts on the paid ads on Google. That is a great observation. Personally I scroll down to the results that were not paid for. Just seems to be a subliminal thing with me and apparently I am not the only one that does that. I also enjoyed the banter about the buttons. Ugly buttons indeed :)

Ricky's (Brian's) points about 'flesh marketing' are right on the money. We have never allowed our business to place all it's marketing dollars and efforts into one marketing basket. You just gotta spread them around. It's important to spend some time going one of one with actual humans :)

Thanks for all the S.E.O. (stuff everyone outta know) tips. Good to see we've been approaching all of this with nothing more than good ole fashioned common sense. Lord knows I wouldn't want to 'over think' anything :) I should stop talking now. But, I can't. I want to mention my delight to find out Father Of Kelan (Bob Stewart) has been dubbed "The Widow Maker". I love it and boy is that going to stick :)

"Widow Maker"... Were you taking a shot at us Boomers not really getting the whole Internet thing? :) And just so you know I caught the freudian billie :)

Oh...I just checked..."I'm in the phone book...I'm in the phone book" :) Now having said all of this...I hope you Guys know I would found the interview fun, engaging and informative. Sounds like I need to take Blogging Bertha out to Poinciana and make some videos. I would say she's "Hyper Loco" enough :)

Jon,

I was happy to do the interview.  New Localism offers some excellent opportunities for agents to connect with thought leaders and key referral sources in their communities.  As I explained before, I'll be starting a series of videos showing agents how they can use Localism as a prospecting tool in their town.

You have a face people can trust, but you talk too fast...on the other hand, Bob has a pretty good voice, but...oh well!

True.  I've been around Jonathan and can tell you that he's like this in person.  Get him rolling about a subject and its like taking a sip from a fire hose; his enthusiasm bursts through.  Bob sounds like he's just talking to you while you're having a beer with him (which I've done).

In short, this interview is VERY authentic.

Brian, I just wanted to say Thanks again for posting this podcast.  It really helped a lot of people.  This is part of a comment that was just posted on my blog by Jo Soss:

I am energized and after listening to Jon on with Brian Brady I am really embracing this!! I am not a negative person and how I reacted just wasn't me - but I think if I would have heard the stuff and not seen the "gold rush" page I would have had a different experience - it is a learning curve for everyone.

Thanks!

Brian, thanks for doing the interview. You asked some important questions and you were very positive in your approach.

Jon, I listened to Bob on RERUSA and that is what "turned the light on" and so when I saw this interview I of course listened and you guys were great! You didn't sound nervous at all - when ever I hear you speak all I hear is sincerity and enthusiasm. But if you were to receive a gazillion-trillion-bazooka dollars - take it!! lol!!

Brian,  I just finished listening to the interview.   I loved your mention of Sean Purcell's Mayoral Marketing approach.  I Googled him as I listened.  I think Jon and Bob have a great plan for Localism and I am happy to be apart of it.  Thank you for the interview.  I learned a lot.

Brain, I listened to the entire interview.  First of all, great job!  You are a natural, that is for sure.  While I think a lot of my questions were answered I still have issues with the way they have chosen the first set of featured neighbors.  In my case, like in so many, those featured have little history and yet I have so many localism posts...many of which were featured.  I realize the "cream with rise to the top" but it's frustrating none the less.  Afterall, this IS our lively hood!

Nice job -- it was interesting and informative -- I think that localism will take a while to sift things out -- there are some things at this point that are incorrect for my area and I would think there would be some mechanism to let those who care know.

Hey Brady, it's almost 4am here so I thought I would just be listening to the podcast but I can't help it, you started talkling about 'pressing the flesh' and of course my hyper local ears said what I always say, boy is Brian really on point. I am already thinking about one of the most fabulous boutiques near my office and how they are not doing web marketing. I can't wait to go in and tell them how they can take advantage of an already existing PR5 website (localism -- I just checked) and let all the Cleveland consumers know about their products.  Hell, I would even do the blogging for them.

And your point about not just sitting at the computer but getting out and meeting people.  I mean really, it's not about being tech savvy or old fashioned....it's about having the pulse of the community which I still believe you can't get unless you DO press the flesh, as you say.

It's been too long since I've communicated with you and I hope you and your family are well.

After listening to this interview, I now better understand that the 'release' of the new Localism in fact is an ongoing process which will continue until all existing Localism posts are subjected to the editorial review process.  That is encouraging news to me, a relative newcomer to Active Rain who is trying to figure out whether newcomers can ever hope to get the same ROI as those who came to this resource some time ago.

Hmmm...

Maybe the release should have been referred to as a "soft" release :)

Perhaps folks would have contained the old 'reaction' vs 'action' thingy that they had happening :)

Lake Norman,

Ditto your post.  I totally agree with you...then again, I can see how they got there...then again...point standing's in AR don't matter according to what I've read...for the initial "featured" local specialists...which is...a little bs...JMO! I guess it's who you know.

Brian:  Fantastic and much needed interview for those of us who are dedicated to both AR and our profession!  Thanks for clarifying SO many questions for alot of us!  I do have to say that I, too, 'ditto' Diane & Karen's sentiment on the neighborhood expert.  As a member of Point2, I KNOW too well how that works and have been VERY disappointed with Point2's neighborhood expert program.  Now, I am VERY active in the Rain and feel that my feet are about to slip out from under me here!!  Other than that ONE single issue, I love the new Localism and can't wait to see the entire thing fold out!

Thanks again Brian!

Brian,

You did a fine job and have help bring the camera a little more into focus.  I belong to a local BNI group and see how I can take advantage of writing about their businesses to improve my SEO and ultimately my bottom line as well.  I also am a little frustrated that with the contributions that I've had to Localism that I'm not one of the Neighborhood specialists... I see that about 80% of the photos used have been taken by me but a couple of other agents are at the top of the heap... I'll stop complaining now and trust if I work it right I'll get my due down the road!

Thanks for the interview!

Nice interview -- it is very helpful to hear what the rainers had to say about what is going on with Localism.  I think it clarifies some of the vision to the forefront.  I think it would have been better to clarify this at the beginning -- but now we can see the vision more clearly...we can be the "mayor of our community".

Jon Washburn answered the BIG question; "Will he sell Localism or Active Rain ?"

Brian-  Full disclosure - like reading the last page of the book first, I skipped to the end so I could hear Jon say he liked leading AR.  Okay, it would be hard turning down, what, $5 ($50) billion, but for now it was a comforting answer.  Will go back and listen to the rest.

As always you show the road to understanding...to all who read the post or listen to the knowledge.

Sometimes you are as distant as a shining star in the sky and other times as close as can be.

Its my perspective near and far. I thank you as I walk along the path ..you help me look up.

I joined localism just out of trust in active rain...if they invited us to play -why not?
