I am reading an awesome book that I've been hearing about for a while. It's called Jack Canfield's Success Principles. You know Jack Canfield, he's the guy that wrote the Chicken Soup book series. Anyway, I started doing this one success principle and I have to tell you its given me some exciting things to think about and I'd like to share them with you.
Of course we all know it is important to write down our goals and a lot of people have started writing "bucket lists" especially since the movie came out. Well, did you know that how you write your goals is just as important as the goals that you make? Its true!! I am a personal testiment to that. I started writing my goals down on 3X5 cards and look at them at night before bed and in the morning.
Here are some of the great guidelines I have really thought were important for writing your goals:
1. Start everyone of your goals with the words "I am"...Okay, don't argue with me on this. Trust me. I thought I knew better on this one because some of my goals aren't really written that way. But just take the time to figure out how your goal would sound if you started it with "I am."
2. Make your goal measureable and accountable. For instance if you say "I am losing weight" then it is not nearly as powerful as saying "I weigh 178 pounds by no later than October 31, 2008." See!! There is a real definition in the goal - not just some lofty ideas.
3. Use adverbs to describe the action words. Adverbs are words that describe verbs, so think of words like easily, joyfully, graciously, comfortably, confidently, and so on. You get the jist. Again, don't question it, just do it for each one of the goals....
4. Make the goals about yourself and no one else. That can be hard for some of us, huh?
5. Read them, believe them, know them, feel them. Every day. And don't stop until they are true!!
One last note literally. Here's a link to Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole' if you would like some awesome inspiration music to think about your goals!!

But if i make the goals about me, then I can't control them. Oh wait ... I can't do that anyway.
