With the construction of Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Sciences nearly complete it is great timing that Indian River State College (formerly Indian River Community College) begin enrollment in their Biotechnology Associate Degree program. Students will begin by taking a survey of courses that concentrate in the science fields. With the associates degree they can begin working in the field as lab techs or research assistants or if they prefer they can continue on to a 4 year university.
With spin off companies such as Oregon Health & Science University's Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute and The Mann Research Center also locating to St Lucie County demand for well a educated workforce will only continue to increase.
