I had the most remarkable phone call this morning. The call was from an agent who had shown and submitted an offer on a high end listing I had. The sellers turned down that offer.

This week the sellers decided to list with a national firm (with my blessings and well wishes).

The REALTOR, Amy Wood, called to tell me that she thought I did a great job with the listing. That astounded me. She has got to be one of the highest producing agents in the MS Gulf Coast--She took her time to call me and encourage me.

I had this listing wayyy too long. The last re-listing I actually encouraged the owners to interview other agents.

This time they listed with another firm. That was definitely okay with me, and a bit of a relief. ...

Anyway, I wish the new agents and big name firm the best! The sellers are wonderful, the property is always in good shape, showings with little to no notice. Its almost a dream situation.

Most of all I wish to give Kudos to Amy for taking a few minutes out of her busy day to inspire me, once again.

You have the right attitude thru this!

We are in competition and not a war.  Kudos to Amy!  We should all take a little time to give our co-workers a little nudge or boost.  This shows deep professionalism.

Even though we are competitors, we are all in this together, therefore we need to work well with ourselves.  That is why at the local Realtors meetings there are hundreds of us there.  Maybe its the bar and the food but anyways this is a profession.  I don't think you see mechanics or car salesmen getting together to say HI to their compatriots....

I am also a volunteer fireman, wherever you go in this great country, all you need to do is stop by a firehouse and they greatfully accept you in their kitchens.

Same with Realtors wherever we are.

You're right -- she is a good realtor, and understood that you'd done your best/worked hard for your client.

You have both showed a lot of professionalism in this situation. Best of luck to both of you in your real estate career.

Share the love!  We should all compliment work well done even if it's someone on another team.  We are all  PROS!

I agree with the above comments.  That call is what we as professionals should do.  The two of you will be on the opposite sides of future transactions and building positive professional relationships is good for both of you and your future clients.

That was a good call. It's always good when someone compliments you on a job well done.

Suzi, good to see you. Haven't seen any blogs from you lately. What a NICE thing this other agent did. Those type of people deserve to be successful 'cause they earn it with their "niceness."  '-)

Hi Suzi,

It is always nice to be associated with a real professional and it appears that Amy isn't the only one that falls in the category! Obviously she feels you are among the elete as well. Congratulations to both of you and thank you for sharing the experience.

Hey, everyone--its nice to drop in and have your surpises waiting for me as well. This really is not a laundry list, it just looks like one. Each of your comments are special.

A bit of Active Rain trivia--does anyone remember how the laundry list reply to comments got started? I think it was because a long time ago--in Active Rain time-- some members were complaining about others scoring extra points by giving canned responses individually to comments.

Rebecca, I agree. Further she is setting a great example. I will try to follow her example. The world will be a better place.

Greg, well said; and thanks for the firehouse insight.

Li, Getting an off the wall from Amy was like the couple of times I received a surprise call from a member of the AR team--I was speechless. (By the way, a call from the President wouldn't surprise me more than getting a call from AR Bob). By the way, you have some breathtaking listings and sage commentaries at your blog.

Mana, Thank you, and likewise.

Randall, I agree. I will certainly do it more often myself.

Randy, I look forward to that. As a matter of fact, I'll hold on to that visualization.

Robert, its especially good when I was beating myself up. Amy had really good timing with that call:-)

Duane, Thanks for the Kudo.

Teri, You're right. But, Amy just earns it period. She has to work hard AND smart to do the numbers she does.

Harold, Thank you, I am just grateful we have Active Rain to share experiences such as this, with those who will understand.

Good Night, and thanks again to each of you for commenting.

PS: Do you think we should share this blog with Amy?

By the way, Greg--I see you are relatively new to Active Rain. I am honored you made my post one of your first pit stops.

Suzi, research....grin. I usually always let the person know who has a ThemThem written about them. It's an honor to them when someone is kind as you were.

I agree.  It is nice to hear a story where Realtors care about other Realtors.  Share the Love.

Michael, thanks for stopping in. I plan to. Amy also provided a strong "leadership by example". This is one act I will definitely pick up.

It was ironic, or providential--that at the exact moment she called I was "evaluating" myself rather harshly.

Suzi, if I were you, I would surprise her with a call, I think she would appreciate it. I thought you were asking if I was going to call her, sorry.

Isnt it odd how sometimes when you are feeling bad your boost comes from someone unexpected.

Vicki--it was funny. Who told her I was kicking my own rear just at the time she called?

That is vey nice and encouraging.  Sometimes losing something is alot easier if you like the person it is going to.  It sounds like this is the case.

Latonia, thanks for stopping by. Actually, the listing did not move to Amy. She had just noticed that it was no longer with me. I can see where I may have given that impression. That was one reason why her call was so unexpected.

Suzi, it sounds like you are doing all the right things, especially if other agents are calling and complimenting you on a job well done.  I work for an independent broker and know that sometimes it is hard to compete with the national firms.  You are building a very good reputation, and because of that other agents will want to work with you in future transactions.

I agree, Scott. I should have cut the strings myself, earlier. I notice its still on the market and the MLS presentation and photos looks inferior to mine:-)
