Are you smarter than a 3rd grader?

It's unclear if I am....

Every Friday morning I head into my son's school to volunteer.  I proceed to Horizon's third grade classroom where I give spelling tests.  Ooops, I keep forgetting, "word study".  Just like gym is no longer gym - it is PE.

I digress...

 A few months ago - I started giving the kids bonus words at the end of the test.  Words that weren't on their lists - but usually have something to do with current events, etc.  Today I gave them the word leprechaun. Some moaned, some started scribbling frantically and the test was over.  As they handed in their papers - they wanted to know if they got the bonus word right.

I couldn't tell them. I didn't know.

I knew the ones without the "ch" were wrong.  But I had no idea if the others were correct.  Trying to recover - I said "Let's go look in your dictionary."  It wasn't in there.  I apologized to the teacher and went home, tail between my legs.

I then typed it into google and saw this "Did you mean....."

Hey - on the plus side - I now know how to spell it!
