Beautiful country and a real looking home.  It is just too cold for me.

Sounds like a wonderful idea - who actually provides the rebate? what are some of the builder guidelines? Looks like an adorable home.

Jesse,

What a wonderful program for new homebuyers.  This is something more folks should be using.

Jesse, I think I remember you discussing this new construction rebate awhile back. It's great that people are taking advantage of it. I still love that you have the suburban town there called North Pole. Most people down here in the lower 48 would think you were joking, but it is real.

Jesse, is there a Wawa or fast food place within 2 hours of you guys?  Just askin....  The listing is beautiful but I am a city girl and the woods makes it look kinda remote.

Hi Jesse!  Congratulations on the sale and what a great rebate!  My hubby and I differ in the new construction vs. re-sales--he likes to 'rehab' and I love the NEW!!  I've won the last two homes but, I think he's got enough on our last builder that he won't let me find a great new construction deal this next one!!!

This home is simply darling, Jesse. Tell me, is there a certain orientation that is popular in Fairbanks? I mean, do you try to situate homes on the lot so they all face south, for example?

Jesse - I love to hear of energy incentive programs. That is a pretty substantial one AHFA is offering.

Randy - Thanks.  It is cold... and the past few weeks... wet.

Debbie - The rebate is provided by Alaska Housing Finance Corporation.  The homes have to be built to minimum AHFC energy efficient standards.  That's pretty much it.  Fill out a form, send it in and shazamm... you get a check for $7,500.  What a deal, huh?

Don - I agree... I'm surprised more are not taking advantage of it.  Not that many people know about it or it would be putting a serious dent into existing home sales.

Gary - Years ago I staged a photo with our mailman and a friend with a dog team.  He had his mail bag sitting in the dog sled and it looked as though he was delivering mail.  I sent it to a bunch of friends in the lower 48 who were floored.  I eventually told them but their reaction was hilarious.

Susan - There is plenty of fast food.  Kathy refuses to live anywhere that doesn't have the Golden Arches. haha.

Debe - Thanks!  We've done both... and I love old homes but after spending countless thousands of dollars restoring and maintaining an old home I'm perfectly happy with our new house.  Less work = more play time.  How could that be a bad thing? :)

Elizabeth - I do try to position homes so that the majority of glass is south facing.  In order to meet AHFC energy standards I have to minimize the amount of north facing glass plus most want the southern sun.

Karen - I've heard of a few others but $7,500 is nothing to sneeze at, is it?
