One cannot deny the impact of the following headline, "IndyMac Bank seized by federal regulators."  After a busy two weeks, I finally got the chance to sit down and watch some TV.  As I surfed the channels, one headline kept repeating is that of INDYMAC Bank being seized.  CNN stated, "This could be the costliest bank failure in the history of the US"  Should we be concerned? Are you concerned?

Well, here are some links to the story:

Even the regulators are concerned.  CNN reported that on Friday there was a "run" on INDYMAC in Pasadena, CA, and their stock closed at 28 cents.  The bank will reopen on Monday as IndyMac Federal Bank.  As the Feds sift through the mess, how will this affect us.  CNN also reported that there are 90 other banks on the federal watch list. Where do we go from here?  How will this change our industry?

Like I was reading on anothers blog, this is a reason for concern, but he was explaining how Wachovia, and worse yet, WaMuare in trouble - both of these, especially WaMu could make indyMac seem like small fries!!  That is reason for concern!  It took almost two years to take over IndyMac, will they be able to wait that long if Wachovia or WaMu slip more than they already are?  Not good!

I agree wholeheartedly with you Ronald.  I am not confident about the future outlook.  Like you stated, "Time will tell"

Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, New Mexico are among the most stable real estate markets in the United States. This has caught the attention of the national media. As such, it is incumbent on local Realtors to provide information about our cities for those interested in investing, relocating, or visiting. My goal with this blog is to highlight issues or topics in real estate, and where appropriate apply them to the local markets.
