Gilbert Arizona just keeps growing. The U.S. Census bureau recently confirmed it... of towns with populations greater than 100,000, Gilbert lands eighth on the list.
From July of 2006 - 2007, Gilbert added 11,308 people. That's a 5.8% year over year increase. Located south east of Phoenix, the nation's fifth largest city, Gilbert has continued to expand at a remarkable pace. The one-time farming community is managing growth admirably.
Not only are people continuing to move in, even in spite of a nationwide housing slump, Gilbert has seen a jump in housing permit requests over the past two months. (East Valley Tribune, July 11, 2008 - A14.)
New residents can quickly orient themselves to everything the town has to offer by attending "mixers" ... which have been held on a regular basis for the past six years. The next event will be held from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. on July 19th at the Southeast Regional Library (corner of Guadalupe & Gilbert Roads).
Visitors will be treated to a continental breakfast, maps, and program guides to various activities and volunteer opportunities. To reserve a seat call: 480.503.6767.
